I bought an I touch about 3wks ago and for some reason the 'play' stops the music and the 'stop' button plays the music...it's like it's backwards, seems very odd to me, maybe there is a default? Can you help?

Hi, This happened to me. For some reason, these ipods go into a deep sleep sometimes. Make sure that the hold switch it is off. Try holding down the menu button until it comes on. If it doesn't come on with that try holding down the select (middle) button until it starts up.
Not normal at all.....you can try the iPod Reset Utility that is located here...... http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1238 but I don’t know if will fix the problem.....but it defiantly cant hurt....Let me know if this helped cbinny1
Press and hold the center button while pressing down on the menu button until the Apple logo appears. That will reboot the Ipod. That should stop the lockup.
The user's manual is available from Apple's website if you never received one. You have to og into the men usettings and turn the shuffle off. There is only play and pause on this unit - there is no stop. It goes to sleep after 10-15 minutes by design. The right side of the clickwheel lets you select songs - the center button lets you play the songs once you have selected them. It takes a while to get used to the clickwheel, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes 2nd nature.
First make sure your hold switch isn't on. It's on the top or bottom and slides
back and forth. It needs to be switched to the left. Once it is to the
left, here's how you reset:
You can reset your ipod by holding down the menu and select (round
button in the center) buttons down for at least 10 seconds. You'll see
an apple logo flash, that's when you stop pressing the buttons. It will
shut off, then back on.
