Hello.

You are attempting to use this Sharp device on your network. If it hasn't ever worked, go though the steps to set it up, again. The server address is it the format; number.number.number.number

If it was working and now is not, your network cable or network jack for the Sharp device may be faulty or disconnected.

Hope this helps..

    though = through

The server address is it the format; = The server address is in the format:

  • chubin2 Jul 27, 2010

It just stopped working today, I don't know a thing about computers, how do I check the connections?

  • NinaE Jul 27, 2010

There should be 2 cables from the Sharp device: one is a power cable and the other is a network cable connected to a box on the wall or connected to a computer. Check the network cable connection.

  • chubin2 Jul 27, 2010

Ok, that lets me scan now but I still can't print.

  • NinaE Jul 28, 2010

So, you can scan from your printer to your computer ? When you try to print, do you get any errors ? Can you print from another computer (if you have one) ?

  • chubin2 Jul 28, 2010

I can't print from the other printer in the network either. The only error that comes up is when I click on the printer icon down on the right hand side of the screen and it says "Error - Sent to printer"

  • chubin2 Jul 28, 2010

Scratch that, I can print from the other computer on the net work, just not my main computer

  • NinaE Jul 28, 2010

So, from your computer, you can scan to the Sharp, but not print. From your computer, you can't print to another printer, either.

Can other computers print to the Sharp ?

  • NinaE Jul 28, 2010

So, your main computer can't print to either printer, but the other computer(s) can print to both printers ??

If true, your main computer is problematic, not the Sharp printer. That would open up another set of questions:

    1. Are you experiencing any other problems with this computer (such as slowness, popups, errors) in any other capacity besides printing ?

    2. When did the printing problem start ?

    3. Did you download anything and then the printing problems began ?

  • chubin2 Jul 28, 2010

I agree, I think something is definitely wrong with my computer. The problem started yesterday right before I posted my original question. I don't recall downloading anything, I was jsut carrying on with business as usual. We only have one printer which is a multifunction scanner, copier, printer and fax machine. All functions but the printing from this one computer are working. should I try to re-add my printer on my computer? Or would that do nothing?

  • NinaE Jul 28, 2010

If you are able to print, but not scan, from your computer and the other computer can scan to/from the Sharp, then it points to the driver (software to run hardware) for the Sharp, installed on your main computer. So yes, I would suggest to reinstall the driver.

How can I connect wireless G print server to a 65bits windows vista without a problem, it just works for WIN XP

Hi, it appears that many are having problems with the WPS54G Print Server. I too have always found it hard to get pc to connect to it. My latest problem was with a Win 7, 64bit pc.

Setting up a printer with a print server is a two part configuration. First you need to configure the print server and then add a printer in your OS.

The following instructions are for a linksys wireless router and the linksys wirless print server model # WPS54G.

To set up the print server correctly go to this link.....http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?pid=80&login=1&app=search&vw=1&articleid=4142&donelr=1

Following is the instructions from the above link:
Title: Connecting the PrintServer Wirelessly to a Wireless Router Article ID: 4142 Before configuring the wireless settings of the PrintServer, make sure to know the following settings on your linksys router: SSID, and wireless security. To check the wireless settings on the linksys router, click here.
Configuring the Wireless Settings on the PrintServer
The wireless settings of the PrintServer can be configured using its web-based utility. Make sure the PrintServer is set to a static IP on the network.

Record the Print Servers IP address you will need it later.

NOTE: Make sure the PrintServer is already working when hardwired to the linksys router before attempting to use it wirelessly on your network.
Step 1:
Access the PrintServer’s web-based setup page. Open a web-browser such as Internet Explorer.
NOTE: If you're using Mac, use Safari to access the PrintServer's web-based setup page.
Step 2:
Go to the address bar and enter the IP address you've assigned to the PrintServer.
NOTE: To assign the PrintServer a static IP address, click here.
Step 3:
When the PrintServer setup page appears, click Wireless.
Step 4:
Enter the same SSID you have on the linksys router. Make sure the Network Type is set to Infrastructure then click Save to apply your changes.
Step 5:
Click Security and look under the Security Mode field. Select the type of wireless security your router is currently using then enter the corresponding security keys.
Step 6:
Click Save to apply the settings then close the PrintServer setup page.
Step 7:
Unplug the Ethernet cable connecting the PrintServer to the linksys router. Power it off for 30 seconds then power it on.
Step 8:
Make sure the Wireless LED on the PrintServer is lit and the Ethernet LED is off to indicate that the PrintServer is in wireless mode then try to print wirelessly.

Stop if you can print at this point. If not continue. The following instructions are for Windows 7, 64 bit OS.

Once the above steps are completed open windows file explore. Click Network and you should see a "print server" listed. Click on PRINT SERVER and you will see a network icon labeled p1.

You should now be able to add a printer.

In win 7 open the add printer and click "Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer", and click next. A searching for printer window pops up. It will list any network printers or print servers it see's on your network. You should see a listing titled "p1 on Print Server".

At this point you need to click "The printer that I want isn't listed. This is just below the "Select a printer" box.

Next a "Find a printer by nane or TCP/IP address" window opens. Select "Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname. Click next.

Another window pops up which ask for a printer host name or IP address. Enter the IP address of your print server (the one you recorded when setting up your print server), and click next.

The next windows states the device is of unknown type. Under Device Type, make sure Standard is checked. Out to the right is a down arrow, click it and you should see many different devices displayed. Scroll until you find "Hewlet Packard Jet Direct", click on it to select it and click next.

Finally a "Install the printer Driver" window should open. Select your printer and follwing the instructions. If your printer is not listed you can click "Window Update" which will look for new printer divers. Once the printer driver is installed you should be able to print.

As you can see this in not a simple printer install. Good luck!

I have a DPR-1260 usb print server. set up a breeze for PC's but cannot get macbook to identify it. Getting no where fast with wireless printing an macs. Help

  1. To make sure your Mac can see the print server, open up your favorite browser, and enter the IP address of your print server, as assigned by DHCP on your router into the URL box. (My router assigned the IP address 192.168.0.100.) On this web page, be sure to note the IP address and LPR queue name.
  2. Open up the Printer Setup Utility (/Applications/Utilities/Printer Setup Utility).
  3. Hold down the Option key while clicking on More Printers...
  4. In the next dialog box, under Device, choose LPD/LPR Host or Printer.
  5. In the Device Name field, give your printer any name you want. Since my shared multi-function printer is an HP PSC 2110, I simply named mine PSC2110.
  6. In the Device URI field, enter the following: LPD://IP_Address/LPR_queue_name, using the information gathered in step two. For example, mine was LPD://192.168.0.100/PSC2100Series.
  7. To be able to use the shared scan features, create a bookmark to http://IP_Address/scan.html (e.g., "http://192.168.0.100/scan.html" for my setup), so you can operate your scanner from a web interface.

Chapter 3 - Configuration
This section will show you how to configure your new D-Link wireless print server using the web-based configuration
utility.
Web-based Configuration Utility
The IP address of your print server will be automatically assigned by your router.
To access the print server’s web-based configuration interface:
Windows® XP users:
Double-click on the My Network Places icon on your desktop. Your print server will be displayed as “DPR-1260:
dlinkps-xxxxxx” (where xxxxxx is the last 6 characters of your print server’s MAC address). If you do not see the print
server or have UPnP enabled, please refer to page 13.
Windows® 2000 users:
You will need to write down the MAC address located on the bottom of the print server (E.G. 00-54-23-45-f5-b6). Open
a web browser and enter the following:
http://dlinkps-XXXXXX
XXXXXX = the last six characters of your MAC address.
Note: Some printer software features may not work
while connected to the print server such as ink level display.

This will prove the print server is working. If you can not access the web interface then it may not be getting an address from the router

Can I connect the printer directly to my laptop using ethernet cable

Hi! If the computer is connected to an HP All-in-One on a network, you can access the Embedded Web Server that resides in the HP All-in-One. The Embedded Web Server is a web-based user interface that provides some options not available on the HP All-in-One control panel, including advanced network security options. The Embedded Web Server also enables you to monitor status and order printer supplies. For information on how to use the features available in the Embedded Web Server, see the onscreen help within the Embedded Web Server. To access Embedded Web Server help, open the Embedded Web Server, then click the Help link under Other Links on the Embedded Web Server Home tab. NOTE: Only use the Embedded Web Server to change network settings if you cannot access the HP All-in-One control panel, or you need to change an advanced option not available on the control panel. Access the Embedded Web Server Use the following instructions to access the Embedded Web Server. You can only access the Embedded Web Server on a computer that is connected to an HP All-in-One on a network.
  1. Press Setup on the HP All-in-One.
  2. Press c00706174.gif until Network is highlighted, then press OK . The Network Menu displays.
  3. Select View Network Settings menu, then press OK .
  4. Select Print Network Configuration Page , then press OK . A configuration page prints, including the IP address. You will use the IP address in the next step.
  5. In the Address box in the Web browser on the computer, type the IP address of the HP All-in-One, as shown on the network configuration page. For example, http://192.168.1.101 . The Embedded Web Server Home page displays, showing information for the HP All-in-One. NOTE: If you are using a proxy server in your browser, you might need to disable it to access the Embedded Web Server.
  6. If you need to change the language displayed in the Embedded Web Server, do the following:
    1. Click the Settings tab.
    2. Click Select Language in the Settings navigation menu.
    3. In the Select Language list, click the appropriate language.
    4. Click Apply .

Not networked properly

Solution To resolve the issue, follow the steps in the solutions below in the order presented. Solution one: Scan from the EWS (Embedded Web Server) Verify that the product can scan and is connected to your network by scanning from the embedded Web server (EWS) on the product. Use the following steps to scan from the EWS:
  1. Print a Network Configuration Page from the product. NOTE: See the product documentation, User Guide, or online resources for information on how to print the Network Configuration Page.
  2. Locate the IP address.
    • Check in the Wired section if the product is connected with an Ethernet cable
    • Check in the Wireless section if the product is connected using a wireless network connection.
  3. Make a note of the IP address found in the appropriate section (wired or wireless); for example, 192.168.1.1.
  4. Open the Web browser.
  5. Type the IP address into the address bar of the Web browser (such as http://192.168.1.1) . Then press Enter . The EWS for the product opens. If it does not open, STOP and click here to check the network connection between the computer and the product (c00047176) (in English).
  6. If the EWS page opened, find the Scan on option.
  7. Click Scan to perform a scanning operation.
  8. If you can scan from the EWS and not from the HP Director/Solution Center or from the product front panel, then continue to Solution two.
Solution two: Check the personal firewall settings When the firewall program is re-enabled after installing the All-in-One software over the network, it may block HP programs or ports required for scanning. If you see pop-up screens asking you to permit access to the network when you try to scan, you should permit access. NOTE: Firewall programs may also block the scanning operation even if they were enabled while installing the All-in-One software. Firewall programs do not always provide messages when blocking access. Follow Step one to allow access to HP program files and ports needed for scanning. Step one: Add programs to the firewall exception list
  1. Open the firewall program.
  2. Add the following files to the Highly Trusted programs list:
    • hpqkygrp.exe , located in the C:\program files\HP\digital imaging\bin directory.
    • hpqscnvw.exe , located in the C:\program files\HP\digital imaging\bin directory.
    • hpqste08.exe , located in the C:\program files\HP\digital imaging\bin directory.
    • hpzipm12.exe , located in the C:\windows\system32 directory.
    • hpzinw12.exe , located in the C:\windows\system32 directory.
    • hpqtra08.exe , located in the C:\program files\HP\digital imaging\bin directory.
    • hpqthb08.exe , located in the C:\program files\HP\digital imaging\bin directory.
  3. If these files are already added, check whether full access has been granted to them.
  4. Open the following ports on the firewall utility by following the instructions provided by the manufacturer:
    • UDP ports: 161, 427 and 137
    • TCP ports: 9220, 9500 and 9290
Step two: Restart devices on the network After making the changes to your firewall application, turn off the All-in-One, the computer you made the firewall changes on, and your router, and then turn on these devices in the following order:
  1. Router
  2. HP All-in-One device
  3. Computer

Unable to print

I have had the same problem. 2 computers had been able to print fine then 1 stopped (other was still fine). I use Network Magic as well- noticed that the IP address for the print server was different on each computer.
I deleted the 2 printers on the computer that could not communicate to the server, logged into the server and set its IP address to static at the address listed on the computer that could print. Next ran the set up for the printers on the problem computer again.
Test pages now printed out fine.

DPR-1260 ... prints but cannot access web config page

To get into the web configuration you need to know your firmware on the DPR-1260. If it is 1.12, us http://dlinkps-xxxxxx where the X's are the last 6 number of the mac address. If it is 1.20 and up, use http://dlink-xxxxxx, where the x's are the last 6 number of the mac address. If you do set it up as DHCP or static and know the ip address of the print server just type in the ip address of the print server on the address bar.
