Question about Cross Sentinel 10 Sheet Cut Shredder

Open Question

I have a Sentinel MX100D. The reverse gear works but the shredding gear does not. When I set the switch to auto and insert paper there is no response. Is there a way to fix it or do I buy a new one?

I have the same problem but I think it is because the trip switch for the automatic is not working. I would like to know if that can be fixed. Phyllis

SOURCE: shredder

Check for stuck paper and remove if any. Then check if motor is ok with a multimeter and also main switch.

SOURCE: Shredder suddenly runs only in reverse

I had the same thing happen to me today - I had just shredded a ton of stuff, emptied the bin 4 times - after emptying the bin the last time, all of a sudden it would only go in reverse. I pulled out my instruction manual and it says the motor might overheat and to let it cool down and try again. I let it cool down for about 1 hour, cleaned out the gears and dusted off the sensor and it started working even better than it did before.

there is a reset switch on the side - it is a slot with a red button. If you press this and it does not stay drpressed, the reset is shot and needs to be replaced

Have you looked for hidden staples in the machine. Sometimes they can be hard to spot.

My red safety button wasn't catching on the metal part on the basket meant to hold it in a depressed state. The basket was bent out a little bit. I smooshed it in and now the red safety button catches on the metal thingy and it works!

Why doesn't OfficeMax OM99732 shredder work on Auto?

My shredder would not sense paper being inserted and the sensor could not be cleaned. So "Auto" no longer worked but the manual reverse DID work. I opened the thing up, reversed the polarity on the red and black wires on the connector for the main drive motor and VOILA!!! I can use my shredder in manual mode by switching it to REV. Be mindful that this keeps the motor running until it is switched off. This can heat the motor and cause failure so I limit my shredding to 60 seconds then give it a rest so it will cool down. Also there is no emergency reverse so watch your fingers and neck ties.

Only runs in reverse

I just had this problem with my shredder. I think the problem started with a bin that was full. Running the shredder in reverse resulted in shredded paper being pulled up into the slot used to feed paper into the shredder. Some of this shredded paper was blocking the little plastic tab that activates the switch when paper is inserted, so the shredder would no longer start when paper was inserted. I emptied the bin and removed the shredded paper from the feed slot, being careful not to break the plastic "sensor" while removing the paper from under it. The shredder works fine now.

Both sets of shredding gears turn and sensor and auto for both paper and media work. However, the intake function for both paper and media do not. This occurred after extracting paper following and...

Does the machine at least run...even in reverse!!
If it does not then you have likely lost the pcb ...you can contact Royal at 1-800-524-0799 for parts availability and pricing.

Shredder will not start when paper is inserted. switch is on auto. This happened after a long session of shredding

Two possible problems;
  1. Teeth underneath lid are jammed; sometimes (especially after a long session) although the papers go through, debris builds up and can get caught in the teeth; to clear unplug and with tweezers or a tina flathead screwdriver, pull out shreds of paper still caught
  2. Motor is overheated; once cool, try it again (move switch to reverse to see if motor is still working). If motor is working, see Step 1 for a jam; some jams can be cleared by running it in reverse. Royal doesn't recommend "long" shredding sessions. My unit recommends sessions of 20 pages or less. If you try to overwork the shredder, it will overheat and in some cases, fry the motor.
I hope this helps answer your problem. Best of luck!

Infoguard SX100M unit will not shred. Green light comes on.

I have the Infoguard SX100M Axeus, sold by Staples.
Only the reverse was working, UNPLUG and open back cover, the paper mechanical switch was working fine, red side switch, the gears and fuse were all ok, I think something on the circuit board was fried.

Anyways, I switched the BLACK and WHITE wires with each other going to the shredder motor, thus when I switched it to reverse, it would go foward and shred. Its working now, only in reverse.

Shedder one works

This is an issue with the paper feed sensor which may be a electronic eye or a mechanical switch if it is mecanical you may just have to jiggle the switch a few times, occasionally paper may get stuck behind it not letting it activate. If it is electronic you have bad sensors or bad pc board and you'll have to contact the manufacturer for further info.
