Question about Garmin Nuvi 760 Car GPS Receiver
If you think you have a screen calibration problem, and can't activate the right buttons by touch the screen;
I had problems with not being able to press the "Done" button at the bottom of the screen and was always selecting the button above it. It was impossible to activate the button on the bottom left of the screen. Same went for any button on the bottom left of the screen. Following some guidance from other posters, I changed the calibration.
The calibration fie is calib.txt. You will find this when you connect the unit to your PC/laptop. I suggest you make a coy of the file and call it "calib-old.txt" or similar.
Open the calib.text file. My original settings were
"907 129 250 734"
I understand that these numbers somehow dictate the distance from top, bottom, left and right that the touch screen should be from the screen border. Someone else might elaborate for us. But from trial and error it is probably LEFT, TOP, BOTTOM, RIGHT
Nevertheless, through trial and error I discovered that that the "250" number was the one that affected the bottom of the screen and again by trial and error changed it to "310". Touch screen now seems to work properly. Note there appears to be double spacing between the numbers. I suggest you don't mess with that.

In that case, the touch screen is faulty and must be replaced; it's a fairly common fault and your faulty screen cannot be repaired. If you search YouTube for "Nuvi 760 battery replacement" you'll see how to dismantle your machine.
The screen is not hugely expensive and not difficult to fit, and as you obviously realise you'll need to enter the diagnostic menu after fitting to recalibrate the screen (for those reading this who are unfamiliar with this, press and hold the battery icon to access the diagnostic menus).
Although the screen isn't that expensive, consider whether to replace the battery at the same time as it's probably seen better days. But when you add the cost of the screen and the battery then if the maps on your machine are out of date then it's going to make more economic sense to buy a complete new machine.
