Question about HP DeskJet 5550 InkJet Printer
You didn't say whether these new cartridges were HP original or knockoffs or remanufactured units. If they are HP original then that suggests a bigger problem. If they are the other types then try taking one out at a time with printer on. Then shut it off with only the one in its cradle. Then turn it back on...if the light goes out then the one you removed is most likely defective. If the light is still blinking then switch the cartridges and see if that turns out the light doing the procedure above. You should have either the 56 or the 57 not both in their respective cradles. If the light doesn't go out then you might try cleaning the electrical contacts in the printer with a cue tip and 91% alcohol or distilled water....just make sure the contacts get dry before retrying any of the above. If these are NEW (in warranty) HP cartridges then you can send back but try them one at a time to see if just one of them is defective. HP also has email support on their website and you might try calling their tech support but don't expect a lot of help...this is an old printer.
hope this helps.
