SOURCE: Can I hook up a

First of all, here is the main ONLINE SUPPORT page for your model:

http://usa.yamaha.com/products/audio-visual/av-receivers-amps/rx/rx-v493_black__u/?mode=model

And here is a direct link to the ONLINE USER'S MANUAL for that model:

http://www2.yamaha.co.jp/manual/pdf/av/english/re/RX-V393.pdf

To view the Support Page or the Owner's Manual with Operating Instructions just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and highlighted text just above. This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information at the website indicated and the contents of the Owner's Manual.

You may need ADOBE READER installed on your computer to read PDF documents.
You can download this free at WWW.ADOBE.COM if necessary.
Click on the DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER button on right side of the ADOBE home page when you get there, then follow the onscreen instructions to install the software on your computer.

You should just be able to use the TAPE REC AUDIO OUT (L/R) jacks on the back of the Yamaha 493 unit as your secondary amp's input signal. You might even be able to use the VCR AUDIO OUT (L/R) jacks as well. See page 8 of the manual for a detailed diagram of the rear connections on your set.

I hope that was helpful to you, good luck.

If you choose to rate this solution using the Thumbs Up scale provided, I thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Joe.

Yamaha home theatre system RXV 350 amplifier

Check it without speaker connection. If the set does not go to protection mode, check all the speakers by connecting one by one at a time and switch the set ON; to find the faulty speaker. If the set goes to protection mode even no speaker connected, check and replace damaged components at its audio output section circuit. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Unit goes into protection after a few seconds. Yamaha amp model no RXV 350

Disconnect all the speaker connections, and just switch the set ON. Even now the set goes to protection mode, the fault will be with its audio output section circuit. If it does not go to protection mode without speaker connections, check all the speakers. Connect on by one at a time; and switch ON the set; thus you can get the faulty speaker box. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Speakers not playing

The problem can be the cable or speakers or RX-V463 or settings. Need to check one by one.
Set the RX-V on DTS or Dolby Digital
1) Check Cables - connect the 2 (surround) cables from RXV's Centre Out to Centre speaker. If the Centre speaker works, then cables are ok.
2) Check speakers - Connect each Surround speaker to RXV's Centre out. If it works Speakers are ok.
3) Check RXV - Set it on DTS or Dolby Digital
Connect RXV's surround out (one at a time) L and R to the Centre speaker. If there is no sound, the problem could be RXV's settings (I need to read the manual).

Hope this helps.

Disconnect the speaker one at a time, you may have a shorted voice coil, the message was indicated a short in the speaker wiring. If no joy then you may have burned out the power transistors.

My Yamaha RXV -2500 started switching audio signals from one componet to another! Example - Sat/Cab sound coming out of the Wii and Wii coming out of the Sat/Cab. I have not touched anything and this...

You need to go into the "GUI" menu and re-assign the audio inputs to the correct source. The manual will walk you thru it as well. If you still need further help, post a comment or reply and I can help with further detail. Hope this helps.

How do I use the remote to cont bass & treble for rxv-657 reeiver

No, Tone controls are on the front of the unit only. If your passing video thru the unit you can go into the setup menu from the harmony and adjust all the sound parameters that way "on screen" The only "EQ" capabilities are for the Center channel only. You can adjust "speaker size". "Large" setting will give you a little lower response. "Small" will crossover the speaker at "100hz" That's about as far as tone adjustment goes on this unit. Hope this helps

Yamaha reciever rx-v363

Thats because if you look in the owner's manual, it declares the fact that it will only broadcast sound from hdmi to monitor not speakers. For sound out of speakers need to connect additional audio cable.
