Hi, before anything check if you have "set ip address automatically" on the network card properties. As a second step you could reset the router to it's factory settings pushing the "reset" button on the back of the router for about 5 seconds. I hope it works.

Not getting in to the enter net.

Make sure your cable/DSL cable from your wall outlet is plugged into the "Internet" port on your router, and a cable from one of the 4-ports is plugged into the network card on your PC. Then, open your browser and type in the IP address of the router (default is 192.168.1.1). The Linksys menu should appear, and you can begin to configure it from there.

What do you want to know about the ports? The one separated from the other ports is the Internet port. that is where you're going to connect the cable from your modem. The other four are the ethernet port where you will connect the computers.

Wrong ip address, need to reconfigure

Im assuming youre using an integrated ethernet card since you say "adapter port" and "unplugged". So....

Since you reformatted your HD with O/S re-installation you may also have to reinstall or update it to the correct ethernet adapter driver. As far as the ethernet card set-up - copy your ethernet card property configurations from the other computers. Also copy configuration settings from your Internet Explorer options.

Have you tried different ports. If the firmware is not eliminating th e problem, then I suspect its the router itself. Try firmware one more time as per linksys suggested, if that does not solve then I suspect you need to buy a new router.
Hope that helped!

Linksys wrt54gs cant connect..

hi try this before you hit the reset botton. Check if Windows XP firewall or 3rd party firewall are blocking the pings, and temporarily disable them just to be sure. The WRT54GS has a feature called "AP Isolation", It's on the "Wireless -> Advanced Settings" page. You won't need it for home use so turn it off as well. Last thing, do a firmware upgrade. Hope it's helps Good luck.
