I have purchased a Toro zero turn mower and can't get it to start. It has gas, I charged the battery. It makes a clicking noise when I turn the key but motor won't turn over. Is there any special way to start these mowers??

No,,just turn the key to start her up!,,,if the engine is free to turn i gess it has a stuck starter relay or a jamed starter, or a dirty power/earth lead or joint some were
but check that this battery you charged up is any good first if the battery has been left standing in a discharged state it wont be any good any more,,try a set of "jump leads" from a good car battery!

Sounds like the solenoid is bad. Most solenoids connect positive + from the battery. One side will read 12 volts (with the black wire of a test meter or test light. (The side connected to the battery). Energize the solenoid (loud click) And with the key held, check the other side for voltage. No voltage, bad solenoid. Be careful when you buy a replacement. Many look the same but do different things.

Check wiring for ground. Ensure battery is fully charged or replace. Replace spark plug. Clean or replace air filter. check oil level, all mowers have a low oil start cutoff. Bad gas? Flush out fuel tank by removing gas line, flush fresh gas thru. Reattach gas line, fill with fresh gas, always use Stabile in gas! Check fuel line for cracks and secure connection to carb. Battery should read 12.8 volts or higher. .

Test the battery with a volt/ohmn meter to ensure it reads at least 12-14 volts. Check all the safety switches located underneath the seat & the mower deck engage handle is disengaged. Check all battery wire connections are soldi, not corroded. Check wiring on starter solenoid from battery & to key switch.

Mower will not start. Makes a loud fast clicking noise when the key is turned.

Loud ticking usually indicates near dead battery, take it out and charge it. If it still ticks you may need to replace it as they are only good for a few years.
