Did you change just the laser or did you change the entire circuit that the laser is connected to? Usually you have to change the circuit as well.

Clicking sound after spinning disk - error

The problem is the installation. A slight variation of the read head angle is all it takes to misalign the laser beam. If the angle is not precise, the light emission will not tract correctly, thus you get a read error. It is like phonograph needle sitting in a groove and making direct contact with the data sectors.

Nintendo wii message reads: error occured remove disc turn off console check operations manual for information! on 2 new games

Hi,

Some older Wii units also have trouble with Dual Layer Discs, which pack more info onto a disk like Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Metroid Prime. If your Wii is having trouble reading a dual layer disc you can try Nintendo's Wii lens cleaning kit. the other resolution for this is to change the laser on the system but it will cost you for that. Try to clean the lens first it might read the new disk.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Unable to read disk error. Changed laser still unable to read any disk

The dvd drive has 2 motors in it one to spin the disc and the other to move the laser carriage. If any of them motors fail it will give a disc error reading. Also if you changed the laser make sure that laser carriage is locked on on the drive spline. If you can freely move the laser up and down with out any resistance then its not locked into place.

Wii wont read disk

mchlstull

In regards to your Wii not reading disks most likely your laser is dirty or you are having trouble with your drive its self.

They make a laser cleaning kit for the Wii you may try using to clean the laser. Note DO NOT USE a DVD/CD cleaner disk on the Wii. Only use ones that are made for game systems. Alot of times the lense for the laser is made different for game systems and if you use a standard one it can scratch the lense.

If this does not work then I would see if you are still in warranty. If you do then contact Wii support about getting an RMA.

If not you will need to look into replacing the drive. (There are several walk throughs on the Internet.) If you do not think you can do it your self then you may be able to find a local repair shop that can do it for you.

Hope this helps

Some wii game disks aren't being read. I know the

Take a can of air and gently blow some into the drive to make sure there is no dust or dirt interfering with the laser.

If after you do this and the drive is still having problems then the laser is starting to go bad and either the laser needs to be replaced or the whole drive.

My wii doesnt read the games

Try opening the wii and taking ear cleaner swobb and dipping it in alcohole and wipe the laser very softly and smoothly. the laser is very sensitive and breakes easaly. then blow it with profeesional blower or blow it dry. then insert disk it should read. sometimes dust or even paper can be blocking laser read.

My Nintendo Wii won't read Disks Anymore

Hi,

What your looking at here, is a laser read problem.
You can either try cleaning the lasers head, with a cd/dvd laser cleaner disk or similar. or alternatively, search e-bay or other on-line stores. to obtain a replacement laser unit.
there are unfortunately, no other practical options.

Thankyou for using Fixya.
