Our new HP Oficejet Pro L7780 can send faxes but can't receive

We are on wireless for our printer. The HP L7780 is connected to power, phone cord (using our extra long phone connector as theirs was WAY too short), and a router to print wirelessly. We are a small business office and I can't seem to find any help, manual, directions. I need help!!! Help us receive those faxes. You are the Master

Our fax line is the second line in the hunt so there is a line share device on the line (The Stick). Our phone vendor tried a different line share device but still had the same problems. (1) The fax takes forever (4-6 rings) to pick up even though it's set to 2 rings, (2) when it does work, which is rarely, we might get 1 or 2 faxes then can't receive anything. The sender hears ringing but is eventually disconnected. Both our service provider and phone vendor have been here trying to resolve the issue. If the vendor technician plugs in his test set it does ring when his office sends a test fax. However, if he then plugs the fax in, nothing happens. Any ideas???

I have a problem that it fails the 'correct type of phone cord' test. It tells me that I need to use the 2 wire phone cord adaptor with my existing phone cord.

I too have a problem with HP7280. I can send faxes but not receive. I am using Cox digital cable phone service and have one phone line for phone and fax with distinctive ring for faxes. HP technical support tried test fax and he himself heard the distinctive rings. He basically ended call saying sorry but HP has problem with incoming digital phone fax signals and he had no solution.

Any ideas for solution with this model? Or do you know of any all in one combos, perhaps another brand that will work with digital signal?

Hi,

First things first, i really want to know how things being setup in your end. Let say for example, from the walljack what is the device connected to it. Or if your using one line for both incoming calls and faxes. Or if your using a DSL also for that same phone number for faxing/incoming calls.

Those are just severa factors that affect your problems. Meanwhile, i cant give you a solution on your issue since i still dont have a clear picture on are the devices connected with each other. ALso, its really advisable that you need to use the telephone cord that came out with the box.

Thank you so much. I remain.

I have an HP L7780. We are having an issue receiving faxing. The pages are often only 1/4 complete. There is no reported error. It doesn't happen all the time.

Send a fax on this number
1-888 HP FAX ME (1-888-473-2963)

and see whether you receive a fax from hp or not whenever HP receives a fax from any number it sends back a fax to prove the functionality you can say.

the reason behind reviving the 1/4th fax can be fault at sender's end

OfficeJet Pro 8500 Wireless I can send faxes but cannot receive them. The call will come in and the fax will display 'Ringing'. It will ring twice, as it's setup to auto answer on the 2nd ring, and...

pleass make a copy from the printer either you use a dedicated line for phone and fax or the same line for phone and fax
then perform a power drain on the printer steps to perform a power drain press and hold the power button down holding down the button unplug the power cable from the rear access of the printer hold down the button for 10 secs then first replug the power cord then reboot the printer press the setup icon(it resembles a wrench) on the printer touch screen then go to tools then select run fax test then you can come to know what is the problem if there is dial tone failure you need to check the phone line if all says pass then go to setup once again then go to advanced fax setup then check fax speed if it is fast set it to medium then check the ecm(error correction mode) set it to off from on then go to automatic reduction then set it to off then go to basic fax setup then check the rings to answer please make sure that the rings to answer for fax should always be 2 rings more than the telephonic answering machine run a fax test again then try sending a fax to the number(1-888-473-2963) thats the hp[ faxme ] number you will get a return fax if the fax test says that the fax hardware failed please contact the hp tech support thank you with regards

Hp c6180 fax not working. Message: Unable to send or receive faxes, press Os to continue Despite the all possible settings and driver updates, the fax has never worked. How can I fix this?

Hi,

Follow the steps one by one

1. Press the Setup button - Press OK
2. Scroll to Tools - Press OK
3. Press OK on Run Fax Test
4. It will list you possible causes why you are not able to send/receive fax

If you cannot solve the issue with the Fax Report, you can do a semi-full reset on printer
( do not do the semifull reset on printer if connected to wireless, If you do so, the printer will loose wireless connectivity to router and you will have to setup the printer on router again )

Disconnect the power cord from back of printer ( when printer is powered on )
Hold the # and 6 button and while holding connect the cord back

This reset will Erase fax logs, wireless connectivity any other memory stored in printer

Follow the instructions on printer screen to re-align the printer and cartridges

Try to send/receive fax and it should work.

Can't receive a fax

There are some settings that you need to change.

You need to turn off the following:
Error Correction Mode
Auto Reduction

to get to these options you need to go to the setup menu by pressing the setup button
then scroll to advanced fax settings and select it and you will find the options listed under it

You also need to check the fax speed under Advanced fax settings.
set it to medium.
hope this will help you :)

We have an HP L7780 and have problems rec. faxes - error 232

Hate to say it, but it means "Don't buy HP printers". You'll be a whole lot happier with Canon or Epson. I had no end of trouble with more than HP all-in-one. They just get flaky after awhile, and the software (particularly scanning) is terrible.

L7780 is not receiving FAXE'S. Only Some of it ??

This is strange. Sounds like noise is in the line. Try searching the line for bad spots or replace the line. The ends could have corrosion on them also. The wires are most likely copper and the corrosion will be green. Check the box on the side of your house also. I would have the phone company check for noise in the line for you. Good luck.
