Question about Samsung HL-R6167W 61" HDTV

1 Answer

I was having problems last week with my Samsung 6167 and asked a couple of questions and came to the conclusion that we needed to replace the main digital board in the television. I just replace the board and as soon as you plug the television into the outlet, the lamp comes on and the lamp light flashes, no red standby light or anything else only the flashing lamp light. Also you cannot turn the television on or off either. Any suggestion?

I replaced the digital board. It was turning on but had the plaid picture. Then it got where it would just have black screen & sound then just turn off by itself. Now when you plug the tv into the wall, there is immediate power supply to the tv and the lamp comes on. No response from the on/off switch on front ot tv. All I get is the lamp light flash and black screen will flicker as if it were trying to power up but just occasionally. It is plugged to a surge protector as is all my other entertainment components. The tv is the only thing effected. This all happened while we were on vacation and their were a couple of storms but none of the storms were to bad from what I am told. I am also aware there has been problems with this tv as the is my second round with this in five years of owning it.

Was the board you replaced the power supply or, the digital processor?
Please check to see that the lamp door switch is working.
let me know what you find.

2008 Ford Focus warning light question... sounds a crazy question... what I'm trying to find out is whether I may have been had and sold essentially a scrap car?

It is possible, but don't jump to conclusions yet. You need to get a code reader on it and find what the problem is. It is usually sensor problems. Some sensors are expensive though, some are awkward to replace. The sensors are attached to the ECM computer, the engine management module. If you only got the vehicle 3 weeks ago, you could phone the seller and ask if he has a code reader, a scrap dealer may well have one.

Hitachi 42HXT12U, It turns itself on and off at random. The tv is under a year old.

Fault with its main board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ . In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

Sounds like a bad main board, but you will need to have the set diagnosed to make sure.

The technician was correct.

This problem is generally considered to not be economically feasible to repair. Your best bet would be to shop for a new TV.

Good luck.

Convergence and lamp problems?

Well I hate to be the bearer of bad news but besides the convergence issues you have a bad red picture tube. Us techs refer to your problem as a 'floating grid' in the red picture tube. More bad news is that the tube is no longer availible. The only solution is to have a professional remove the red tube assembly and ship it off for rebuild. A company called Video Display does this work reasonably and I've sent several to them with great results. It takes about three weeks and the whole repair is very spendy, around $400 to $500. Sorry for the bad news.

Take it back... That is either the digital board or the logic main board and that's way too soon for you to be having those problems.. Heck a Poloroid usually lasts a couple of years before having these type of severe problems, and even that is sooner than most major brands... You still have warranty - I STRONGLY recommend you take it back..
