Question about GE Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

GE Electric range coil burner does not work on low heat, has to be above 4 to have any heat and works perfect on high heat. Changed element same problem. Is it the receptacle or the dial control?

This is usually the infinite switch has failed. They are easy to check and inexpensive. There is a video at http://appliancehelponline.com/infiniteswitchvideo.html that will walk you thru testing this. It may be a different model but the testing will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations for your specific model. Not all models are available. All parts come with installation instructions.

Spectra GE model JBP64W0B4WW stove top burner stopped working

Which element is it? Try to switch the infinite switch from another element. This will tell you if it is the element or the switch problem.

On an old (1960s?) GE electric drop in range, 1 of the burner coils is not working. Solution?

Most likely the heating element (burner coil) has an open circuit ("burned thru") and would need to be replaced. Do you have a multi-meter with which to test the continuity of the element?

Fixing an apartment sized GE range - pushbuttons don't respond

I'm not sure what your question is. Are you trying to find out why only one burner works? The top burners are simple and if you can work on it I can tell you how and what makes it works. The burners are as most ele. things. You have a line in, a switch, a load and a ground. The switch has 220v coming in. When you push a button it allows ele from the line to go to the element which is the load. Which button you push dictates the amount of ele that is allowed to go to the load. It should have a OFF, LOW, MEDIUM and a HIGH. If you check the wires between the switch and the element after you push the HIGH, you should show 220v. If not, you have a bad switch. I hope this helps like I stated, I'm not sure what your question is.

Single Burner Doesn't Heat Properly

1. Turn off power. 2. Determine type of burner. If it's a plug-in, test faulty burner in another receptacle * If it works, replace the original receptacle * If it doesn't work, replace the burner. * Replace other faulty components If it's a flip-up burner: * Disassemble and replace the faulty burner and any other faulty parts. 3. Restore power. 4. Test. *If it still doesn't work, call a repairperson.
