Not it is either the power adaptor or the mother board please remove the battery then wait for 60 secs. and try to turn it on with the power adapter only.

Always check the last thing you did , like adding memory.. a bad memory stick will keep the computer from starting

This could be caused by several things:
the most common issue with laptops is that by plugging them in & out wears on both the computer end of the power adapter and on female power recepticle on the computer itself. This would be the first thing to check. If your getting any lights on the computer BEFORE you start it while plugged into the wall you must asume that the power adapter working. If the lights flicker on and off when you jiggle the power cord near where it goes into the computer then its the power cable or plug it goes into. the cable can be fixed fairly cheap it thats where its damaged. the computer end requires soldering and a skilled person to disassemble the laptop.
--if you have no lights on the computer while plugged in--
this could be both the ac/dc adapter or motherboard..

post again if I can further assist you

HP Pavillion dv900 no longer has visual--Daughter's computer--I can hear the hard drive kick in, but no visual whatsoever. Cna I use a separate monitor for the visual? Someone told me the HD is "fried". I...

I wouldnt think the hard drive is bad. Even without a hard drive you should have something on the screen.

What I would do, is look on the back of the computer. And there is a monitor port. Hook up an external monitor like for a desktop. To that port.

Then turn the computer off and on. If it picks up the monitor. Then you have an issue with the lcd screen.
If you dont see anything. Then it could be the motherboard or the graphics card has went out.

To back up my thoughts, read over the forum link below and see if it sounds similar.

How to Disassemble an HP Pavilion DV6000

The HP Pavilion DV6000 is one in a popular line of consumer-oriented laptops produced by HP. Relatively inexpensive, the Pavilion DV6000 is a good all-around value for most users. Taking apart an HP Pavilion DV6000 is not an easy chore and if you plan to use the laptop again, it is important you know what you are doing or you have a large appetite for risk. If the above doesn’t describe you, consider taking the HP in for professional repair or upgrade. Otherwise, follow the steps below to disassemble the HP Pavilion DV6000.
18385245_1.jpg?w=200 1、Prepare a clear workstation. Turn off the laptop and remove all power components including the cord and the battery. (Turn the laptop over and you will find the tab to push and pop out the dv6000 battery.) Also remove any peripheral attachments like card readers and USB devices.
90-04208-003_original-hp-pavilion-dv8000z.jpg?w=250 2、Turn the HP Pavilion dv6000 upside down and unscrew all the screws you find. Try to keep them separate by size so you can put them back in the same spot when and if you decide to reassemble the laptop.
3、Remove the hard drive and memory modules by pulling up on the rectangular compartments. The memory is located in the central compartment (remove by spreading latches and pulling up), and in most HP models the hard drive is located to one side.
4、Remove the optical CD/DVD drive by pulling on the drive face to the left and out of the laptop. Remove the WiFi card by disconnecting the gold connectors on the antenna and pulling the card from its slot.
5、Turn the hp dv6000 back over and remove the keyboard and power panel/media touch pad. Carefully pry the power panel up with a piece of hard plastic near the power button on the left side. Be careful when pulling not to yank the power connection as you might accidentally rip out a wire. Pull back the keyboard to reveal the connections. Disconnect the connections by carefully pulling on the tabs with your thumb and forefinger. If they are tight, wiggle them back and forth while pulling on them to loosen them.
6、Remove the screws that were underneath the power pack/media touch pad. Carefully pry up the top casing and set it aside.
7、Detach all visible connections to the motherboard by pulling gently on them, wiggling them if they are stuck. Gently pull up from the right side of the motherboard and remove. The HP laptop is now fully disassembled.

Newer HP Pavilion dv6000 turned off while in use and wont turn on

1.Start your computer and see if your hear your fan noise, and cannot see anything on screen then there is problem with your power supply.

2.If you cannot hear your fan noise, and do not see anything on screen, then there is problem with your motherboard

3.if you hear fan noise and can see something on screen, then it is the issue with your hard disk (very less cases)

Mostly it would be the 2nd case that you will have to get your motherboard replaced

Hp pavilion dv6000 turns onn and off

I had a similar problem with my pavilion. They have a cooling fan design that allows for lint buildup and subsequent overheating. You could try using a compressed air and blowing out the exhaust vent area for the fans.

HP pavilion laptop will not boot windows...IDE device not found

You usually get that message when the hard drive has crashed.

Try removing the hard drive from the unit, then reseat it back into place.

Hopefully it was just dislodged a little bit.

Let me know what happens.
