Maytag MDB9150AWW model not getting wash water, gets rinse water

My Maytag MDB9150AWW model is not getting wash water, but it IS getting rinse water. When I use Auto Clean, Normal or LIght Wash no water enters the machine and then it attempts to wash without water. Instead of hearing the water entering the machine there is complete silence. At some point the dishwasher attempts to wash the dishes even though there is no water in it. At this point I open the door and manually add water using my sink's hose sprayer. For Auto and Normal, this is done twice as I believe there is a pre-wash stage. For Light I only do this once. The water always drains successfully and when the rinse cycle comes along the water enters without a problem and the dishes are rinsed.

Having read some other posts, I don't know if this is a float switch problem that gets ''unstuck'', or if this is an electronic control problem. The water inlet valve works fine for the rinse cycle, as does the float switch. Since the pre-wash (first) wash cycle doesn't ''unstick'' the float switch and I have to add water a second time for the (second) wash cycle, but waqter enters fine for the rinse cycle, I tend to think the float switch is probably ok. Any ideas?

Thanks for the help. I am rerunning it now and took a voltage reading at the water inlet valve. Using "Normal" wash cycle, the Pre-Wash Fill cycle worked and registered 120 Volts at the terminals. I watched the float switch and it worked fine. After the drain, the main Wash Fill cycle did not work properly (there was no voltage (0.108V) at the water inlet valve terminals). Rinse cycles worked fine.

Looks like the Control Panel replacement is my fix. Thanks!

Hi,
I think you have thought this through throughly and have narrowed it down pretty good....
The soleniod valve does work or you would not be getting rinse water...
The float is working or the rinse would either not fill at all or overfill...
so the electronic control seems to be the problem and when it should be filling for the wash cycles it is not activating the fill soleniod..
I agree with you that the part I would change is the electronic control...

here is the part...based on the model number you gave...

Thanks for the answer - though that was the answer I was hoping to avoid since it's the expensive repair - $127 instead of less than $10. :-)

Maytag clothes washer Model LAT6910AAW. leaks at the last cycle when the rinse water is drained. it may be the drain pump, except it doesn't leak when the wash water is drained (2nd cycle)

If your machine has a tray that you put softener in, softener is the last thing added at rinse time. If it is plugged or has a leaking supply hose, this would cause water paddles and appear to be related to the drain cycle.

I have a Maytag Performance series washer. Model MTW5740TQ0. It agitates during Wash cycle, but will not spin during after the Rinse cycle. It does this more times (95%) than not, but not everytime.

It may be falsely sensing water in the tub. Do you hear the pump running after the rinse (trying to pump out water that isn't there)? This would indicate a fault in the water level sensor. Does it seem to sense the water level correctly after the wash cycle? It could also be a timer problem.

Maytag Auto Load-Sensing Washer does not fill with enough water to wash the clothes. How do I get around this?

Did you ever get an answer - all I see are ads :-(

We have the same problem. Not enough water to rinse - even with extra rinse selected. Even our laundry comes out the color of the laundry detergent. I'm sure this is a result of government regulations to reduce water usage. We'll contact Maytag tomorrow.

Dishwasher won't fill

The only three things left are:
Is the flow to the fill valve adequate...kinked line...for instance.  Drain valve is partly jammed...letting water out early or timer is bad..I'd go with the valve.  You may be able to clean it out.

It sounds like you have the hot and cold water lines to the washer reversed.  Try turning off the tap for the hot water then setting the washer to just cold wash and then  hot washif you get nothing on the cold and cold water when set to hot they are probably reversed.  Typically if the auto-temp control is broken you will only get hot or cold coming out on any setting.

MAYTAG NEPTUNE TL WASHER

If you are not getting any error codes pertaining to the door lock and you are getting wash and rinse then the problem would seem to be that the water is not draining. Machine will not go into SPIN if the pressure switch senses that there is still water in the basket.
