Question about Zoom (5590-00-03) Wireless Router (G66115)

1 Answer

Connect to networks except on home network

I can connect to any wireless network except the one at home. It had worked fine for many months (essentially since I setup the router) but after a visit to my brothers house could no longer connect at home. I had inadvertently switched off the switch on the side of my Toshiba laptop that allows wireless access after leaving my brothers house and after I diagnosed that problem and switched it on I could no longer connect at home on my Zoom wireless modem but can still connect at every other location without problems.

Make sure in your router all settings are fine. Also change wireless channel type in wifi router also Disable WEP security in your router for checking purpose. Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. Then click on wireless settings then change channel type to 11 also disable WEP or WPA or WAP security in wireless security if it is enable. Then save settings and restart router. Then check. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Cannot connect smartphone to my computer via wi-fy

The smart phone should work fine on any wireless router. Try going to wireless settings on the phone and if it has your network remember click and hold on your network and select forget network. This should clear out any thing cached about your network. Once that is done try re-connecting to your network and enter any password you may have.

I have an hp compaq and it connects everywhere except my house?

To connectyour computer to a wireless router, you click the Refresh networklist, then Choose your wireless network and then click Connectto your secured Wireless Network, it will asks for a Network Keybefore allowing you to connect into your wireless network. This NetworkKey is either the WEP, or WPA or WPA2 Encryption key that is used toconfigure the Wireless Router. The Passphrase is an alternate way tosetup the Encryption key.
When you are requested for a Network Key, you can just enter the Passphrasethat was used to configure the Encryption key in the wireless router.http://www.fixya.com/support/r5270415-network_password_network_addressFor information on securing your wireless network, configuring the wireless router and configuring the wireless card in thelaptop/computer, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

I cannot connect to the WIFI at work, but I can connect to my WIFI network at home, and other public networks. The wireless network at work is pushed by a D-Link 8200AP with a WAP security, just like it is...

Your laptop cannot connect to your work's wireless network because the security settings (ir WAP) in the D-Link is different to the security setting in your Netgear.
The wireless card in your laptop will need the settings changed to suit the D-Link's wireless settings ie the SSID and WAP.
You will need to change the wireless card settings in your laptop back to the Netgear's wireless settings to connect to your wireless network at home.
Some wireless cards allow you to set up different profiles for different wireless networks which allow you to switch wireless networks easily by just selecting the profile for the network you want to connect to.

WPA is not very stable and I have seen many problems with this. Simply change router setting to be configured with WEP and use a good strong password in hex 0-9 and a-f . WPA is horrible any way, and who the heck is gonna sit out side your home to hack it? It is not a WIN 7 problem but more like aging encryption.

ASUS EEE PC w/ Windows XP will not Connect Wirelessly

You need to know if your home network requires a password or paraphrase to allow you to connect. Also, you might have to check your settings on your router, they have to match the settings of your laptop wireless adaptor. You can try these solutions and if no luck post with more information

Wireless Network gone from Toshiba Laptop all of a sudden.

Please try to scan and connect to your wireless network at a distance of around 6 to 7 feet from the router. This might help if there are any interference issues at play.

Also, you could manually create a profile for your wireless network on that laptop and try.

Alternatively, you could update the drivers for the adapter on the Toshiba laptop and check it out.

Please let me know if the above helps. Also, kindly rate the solution, if it helps.

Thank you.

With Warm Regards
