Hi please follow these steps:In a world of PowerPoint presentations and the latest digital downloads, the overhead projector may seem obsolete. The fact of its continuous use in schools and colleges across the nation shows the perseverance of this classroom essential. But, when it breaks down...then what? Look below for a few tips on how to repair an overhead projector.

  • Ensure the wire is not loose from the plug by tugging gently on the cord. Cover any exposed or frayed wires with electrical tape, get a new wire and plug if there is significant damage.
  • Step 3Remove the top of the projector and compare the wiring with the diagram in the projector's manual. Check all the wires are connected as listed and none are missing. If you don't have the original manual use the model number located on the back label to get a replacement online.

    • Clean the projection screen with glass cleaner and a clean dry cloth to remove and dirt or debris from the surface. This will improve the overall projected image and prevent scratches to the surface.

    • Step 5Adjust focus if image appears blurry. If you suddenly have problems seeing the projected image it could be a simple matter or accidental movement to the focus element of your projector. Focus adjustment is located on the projector head in most cases and must be manipulated by hand.

    • Step 6Turn and twist the adjustment tool on the head arm to ensure it is not loose and in need of replacement. This could affect focus of the image.

Consider consulting a professional to perform a routine maintenance or diagnostic run on your overhead projector. Although costly, this is always cheaper than replacing the entire product for what could turn out to be a simple repair.

My PJ503D shuts down maybe a minute or two after turning it on, what causes this? is this the lamp? anyway, the lamp time usage has already reached 937hours,

    hi mayn,

i have some proposal for you reference,

1-- does it thermal overload protetion?? so check the van is working or not,
2-- check the color wheel is ok or not? clean it and check the 8pin chip loose contact or not?
3-- the last, consider the lamp, but it just worked less than 1000h, it should have longer life,

hope this is helpful for you,

    Jacky,

you can freely contact me for further help, by mail, wanmingjun@gmail.com

How do i reset the lamp hours? i just bought a new bulb and put it in

Press and hold the UP button on the projector for 5 seconds, this will display the Total Used Lamp Time. Press AUTO on the projector to reset the timer to 0. Wait for roughly 5 seconds for the On Screen Display to disappear.

How do i reset the lamp hours on viewsonic pj503d i cant afford another bulb right now and i know theres a way to reset it just trying to buy some time untill i can afford one thanks alot

Though you can reset timer in the info menu it is unwise to do so as the bulbs can explode if they go past there usage time and can cause damage to projector.
Have a look on ebay there are a lot of bulbs on there maybe you can find a cheap one.
