Often the problem on these is contamination that gets under the edge of the escutcheon which effectively presses the screen out of the usable area preventing entry in the normal area.

Using special screw driver (very small TORX) remove the covers and clean the screen edges. Note one has to gently pry the cover off when ALL screws are out.

A "sometimes works" method is to run a piece of paper or thin cardstock around UNDERNEATH the rim of the escutcheon to clean the contamination.

Note, you MAY need to "recalibrate" the screen after these procedures.

Normal 0 Hi,
The best thing to do is to go to the free palm chat service they offer. I have used this and it worked good for me. Here is a link to the free chat service. Scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see a Palm Chat. From there click on the link that says Chat Now and follow the online prompts. Best wishes...I hope this will help you.

Palm Tungsten E2

Try the hard reset procedure.

If still is failing, then the digitizer is defective and needs to be replaced.

You can find digitizer parts in ebay or other on-line companies, at reasonable prices.

Regarding the labor cost, depending of the repair shop you choose, it may be cheap or expensive.

Also, if you have minimum experience and skills in fixing electronics, you can try it. really is not so difficult, and minimum set of tools are needed for it

Best regards,

Palm Tungsten E/E2 digitizer - fragile?

Palm one is in trouble because of problems like this. They don't work on it but you can buy parts to try it yourself. I never had the problem myself but similar conditions. I do windows based units now.

Can I sync an Ipod touch with my Palm Desktop for windows?

I don't believe that the Palm desktop manager is compatible with Ipod. Unless you have your contacts associated with Microsoft Outlook, that should work.

Palm tungsten E2 touch screen unresponsive

I noticed this problem with mine and solved it by loosening the 4(four) T5 screws in the back. The problem is caused by a swollen battery. When the PDA is left charging for extensive periods of time, as mine was(several months of inactivity and never thought to unplug it), the battery will swell. It's still a good battery and holds a charge, but the increased girth presses on the internal boards of the PDA causing the screen to register a continuous "touch" and therefore seems locked. It's actually waiting for the phantom touch to release so it can act. Unscrewing the fasteners allows the body to expand, thereby releasing the pressure on the screen and letting the phantom touch go away. I'm going to see how well my e2 does without the screws in it at all for a few days. The front and back panels have "clips" molded into them which hold to the side frames, keeping it closed. But the fasteners are there to ensure the PDA doesn't fall apart all together. So, wish me luck. I'll report back in a few days and update this.
