My canon powershot sd1000 won't display the blue button to download the pictures onto my computer. How can I fix that? Thanks for the help.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Can't download pictures from camera to computer

Hi,
Sounds like there is some communication problem between camera & the system (computer), Uninstall the existing camera software from the system & then reinstall camera software/driver back and then try to connect your device, i hope this will fix the issue.

Thanks....!!

Canon powershot sd1000 malfunction

If the camera is not recognized on any other computers it's hooked up to either, your best bet is to take the SD card out, put it in a card reader, and plug that into your computer. If the card still works, you should be able to pull all of your pictures off--probably way faster than using the data cable too.
If your card is an SDHC card, make sure your reader can read SDHC. Most laptops made in the last 3 years have card readers, but they might not read SDHC cards. You should be able to pick one up for $5-10 at the store.

I cannot get my camera to connect to my computer

what operating system are you using? are you connected to the same USB port on your PC? You can always try a different USB port. Did anything happen to your camera between downloads (dropped it, battery issues, etc.)?
