I like the growing number of you have this problem as well.

If this was a car, surely the maker would issue a product recall?

The laser and mechanism are out of alignment. Did you drop this or some how, did it take a blow of some kind? You can take the cover off after you unplug the machine and check to see if something is causing the disc tray to be out of alignment. If the machine can't read the disc for some reason or another it will also make a bunch of noise while the laser is moving trying to pick up the starting point on a disc, Have you tried more than one disc?

two of the main problems associated with players are their motor's and their lens. the lens emitts a light which reads the image off the disc, if the lens is going bad then that lighting signal isnt as strong as it should b and it wont be able to read the disc. on the other hand if the motor spinning the disc is spinning to slowly or it starts but doesnt continue spinning to allow the lens to read the disc then u will experience the problems that u are facing with your player.

solution: get the whole lens motor mechanism changed.

When I try to play a disc it says BAD DISC. It won't play any disc. It make a louder noise when the disc spins than when I first bought it. We only used it 5-10 times.

the laser optical unit is most likely a little dusty, carefully blow the inside where you load the disk out with a can of air, make sure the unit is completely off while doing this. This may NOT fix it, make sure to also follow all guidelines for use of the particular can of air you choose to buy,

Disc is not working. Error message No disc

Try cleaning both the disk and the lens of the dvd player. Sometimes even a little bit of dust can make your dvd player go ballistic. Brands like Sony,Philips and LG are very sensitive. If anything else fails, you can take it to a repair shop to find out if the lens isn't cracked or the LED isn't responding while trying to read the disk.

"no disc" error message

Did this problem just start? It may be due to the lens no longer reading the disc. Try a lens cleaner. If your lens went south, it usually is paired with a clicking noise or/and the combination of a no disc/disc error message. I would also recommend staying away from Polaroid dvd players and tv's in the future. They have a habit of not making parts available, especially after the warranty.

How can i fix my portable dvd player?

that noise sounds like the focus is trying to see the disc as it has to focus to see or register there's a disc. Maybe the turntable slipped down a little or there's dirt or film on the lens. Good luck
