Question about Samsung HCN436W 43" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Colours not mixig together

Hi i have 43in rear projection the top of screen is arching and colours aren't mixing please help

I have Samsung SP43W6HE. Im from Finland and I havent seen this model on english sites so I dont really know is it only bublished in Finland or what.
My tv looks exact the same as HCN436W.
The colour conversion is damaged somehow. There was 2 burned resistors (rz143 and rz147). They were near the STK convergence modules. I dont know the exact value for them but found Samsung service manual (Click here) and replaced the resistors with 3.9 ohm ones. It didn't help anything, but they didn't burn up again.
Coulour that is not mixing is green. It can be fixed a bit by using the"secret menu" or what ever ( Mute 1 8 2 ), but it wont get like itshould be. The green is a bit round shaped on the up and down, so Ibelive I need to buy and change the STK convergence modules (STK392-010). I tried to resolder them before but that didn't help either.
Can it be that only one module is damaged, and which one of them can it be?
Can there be something else damaged than the convergence modules?
How do I know what is good module or bad module? Only the price?
If possible, I would love to have service manual for my tv or even the SP43W6HE. My email is janne...muikkula@gmail.com with only one dot in the middle.

Ps. Sorry for my bad english and thanks for help already.

The resistors didn't burn again after I put 3.9 ohm resistors there, but it didn't change anything either. I think I will buy the STK convergence modules and see what happens..

I havent found a service manual for correct model, SP43W6HE. If anyone has it or knows where it can found, please tell me.

You can get the new ic's at this sight i will post and free online tech support and they will also tell you the exact value of the resistors because when those resistors burn its because your ic's are no good I have used this service many times and the techs will go the distance to help people

that model was produced for europe but your problem is definately the STK392-010 chip thats what causes the resistors to burn you need to replace both the STK'S because one controls the red and half the green circuit and the other controls the blue and remainder green circuit If you change the 2 convergence IC'S you should be fine also if you get them at the link I posted they ship all over the world and have free shipping and you also receive free online tech support also you recieve step by step picture installation instructions

I have a samsung sp43w6hpx which started to mix colours and now it just goes to standby can anybody help please as its a good tv and i`d like it fixed

If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem.
If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, greenish, or blueish or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured.
You can search google for parts or you can get the parts with repair instructions from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com

Im having colour problems with my phillips 43in hdtv blue and red lines across the screen tried to aligne but didnt help any ideas wat i can do

This sounds like convergence output IC problem. convergence board would have to be removed - remove and replace 2 STK IC's and check the surrounding resistors. Shops usually $200-$400 Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

Krazy colours

Hi if picture is of it could be convergnce ic and that would require a tv tech cost is 250.00.

But the arching noise is usually your high voltage arching from fly back or spiltter you could take off back be careful it is very high voltage only do if you now this stuff, and you will see it arching when it is on and where ever the arc is coming from is the problem the fly back is a large transformer and is black with red high voltage lead coming out of it the leads could be bad to.
the splitter is where all the leads go into from tubes. i hope this helps cost to fix for tv shop is 350.00. thanks doctor video

Colours not mixig together

You have a problem with the STK convergence modules. They're on the center circuit board attached to an aluminum heat sink that's about 8" long and 6" tall. You may be able to recreate the problem (hour glass effect) by gently moving the heat sink (which the modules are connected to). This gives the hour glass effect on the picture and the advanced convergence screen. This is an indication that the modules pins aren't solidly connected (meaning soldered) properly. Remove the circuit board and clean the old solder off & resolder the modules pins to the circuit board reconnected the board and then retest by again pushing on the heat sink. The "factory" job was good enough for 3-4 years but the heat (and these modules do create a lot of heat) and stress created from repeated use eventually takes it's toll, weakens the pin connections and our problem occurs. take the appropriate cautions working around the high voltage of the set & use a non-conducting piece of wood to push the heat sink when doing tests.
If soldering doesn't help, then the modules have died and need replacing. Don't buy the $10 cheap ones. Most of them have an upgraded version that is stronger. Also look for any burned resistors in the vicinity of the modules.
Best of luck, hope ya fix it.

I read that these sets have a problem with the yokes on tubes sliding down some- there for causing this problem make sure yokes are all the way up on neck of picture tubes, this may fix your problem!
