First thing is to make sure it's installed in proper direction. Those have arrows or other marks to indicate inflow/outflow. Please check that first.

The problem would not be from your water filter. The water is controlled by the dual water valve inteh back of the fridge. The water valve will most likely need to be replaced. It's possible that a small piece of debris found it's way to the ice maker water valve after disturbing the filter. It's also possible that the ice maker is at fault too, causing the valve to stay energized too long. Although if the valve stays energized too long it will eventually burn out. You can try unplugging the 2 wire plug to the ice maker valve to see if the problem stops first, if not than you will need to replace the water valve unit. Pleazer Appliance...

Very slow water flow into ice maker and almost no flow from water dispenser. Replaced filter, did not fix problem.

HI if your using a saddle valve to connect your water to to main water line, this is the problem either switch to a regular T-reducer or try to drill the hole bigger in the saddle valve, those wil restrict the flow to your refrigerator.

Replaced the water filter. the refrigerator is making ice but not dispensing water

Is there any packaging from the new water filter restricting the flow. Check for anything blocking the water flow near where you replace the filter and check for correct installation. If this problem was the reason you replace the filter check the switch that dispenses the water. Make sure it isn't "iced up".

Tried new filter. Thought water line frozen. Problem solved by bypassing the water filter. Now that I'm working without filter I will troubleshoot the filter receptacle.

The water will not come out of the door. The ice will work though.

My GE Profile has a system water filter. The manual said that if the filter clogs--it will not allow water to pass thru--any ice already made will still dispense but no new ice will be made. If you have a filter and it is over 9-10 months old, it could be clogged.

Ice maker doesn't fill all the time on a GE side by side model TFX22ZRSM

I bought a brand new smartwater replacement filter and after a very short time, my water stopped coming through the door.. took out the new replacement filter and inserted a brand new one .. problem solved.. apparently some of the g.e. smartwater filter replacement cartridges don't have the high enough two plastic inserts which are attached to them at the top of the filter when you screw them on... if you have taken your cartridge in and out a few times, i think it wears down the plastic so it doesn't fit properly and won't put up whatever it is supposed to push up to make the water come through.. I personally think this is a g.e. problem with the replacement filters... this might be part of your problem.....
