Burners and oven not heating tappan range 560s111po1

I have a tappan electric stove. It was working fine on Tuesday, used the burners and the oven. Wednesday when I went to cook, none of the burners are heating up and neither is the oven. I checked my fuse box to the house and flippd the switch and still nothing. When I turn the burners on the red light turns on so there is power going to it. I am at a loss. PLEASE HELP!!!!!Ashley

We have a tappan gas stove, it was working fine until suddenly the oven wouldn't heat . . .was told to replace igniter part, that cost almost $70 , didn't do anything but NOW , since we replaced that , the stove keeps trying to 'self clean' when we hit 'bake' to turn over on, it just wants to clean, nothing else . . and it locks the door . . . we hae to keep hitting 'cancel' so it will unlock . . . we've never had these problems before. Before we replace the 'key pad' ( which is the next step) we wonder what is happeneing? My husb. has looked at everything else, burners are working fine.

You need to check the connection at the back of the unit that hooks to the house power. Turn off breakers or pull fuses before checking. It sounds like you only have half of the voltage you need. One of the wire connectors may be burnt or you may have a problem with the house wiring.

It sounds like an issue with the oven control board - the logic board that displays the clock and has the buttons on it. I've had this happen twice with my Tappan electric stove. There are two circuit boards in this control panel, spaced about a third of an inch apart, one is mounted on top of the other. Electric arching occurred from the board with the relays on it to the board with the clock. This caused the solder under one relay to melt away and burnt up a solder pad. I was able to clean and resolder the board - and bridge the burnt pad. It's working now, but I had to put thick electric insulation between the two boards.

My oven is not workin

I take it this is an electric stove. The display and controller only are used for the oven operation. Check to make sure you have power coming in on all three contacts. If it's electric, it uses 1/2 of the 220 for the burners and the other for the controller. I assume you have already tried un-pluging it and plugging it back in. There should be a tech sheet in the back of the oven. If there is somebody that can read some simple voltage or has a meter make sure power is getting to the controll board. If it is, your controller is probably bad. Hope this helps.

GE profile stove, Gas-electric

All oven elements are 115/130 VAC. Stoves use 220/240 so that you can use both the burners and Oven at the same time. Since the burners are Gas, then 220/240 VAC isn't needed.

(Note: 220 is simply dual 110 hot leads with a common ground)
