All I did was hit the unlock on the bottom and slid the face off to reveal the battery, cleaned the contacts and put the battery back in, works fine.

SOURCE: Brand new Flip Ultra HD. Giving error "Check Battery Pack Chargin

check the contacts on the bottom of the pack. for some reason, the plastic sheathing covers the positve contact of one of the batteries. i took an xacto knife and cut a small hole to expose that end. after that, voila, no more charging problem. i woke up to a full charge this morning!!!

hey guys! flip not turning on after charging? well, i have gotten a solution for you. before doing any of this, please read all directions. first, look at bottom and slide to unlocked key. then, gently slide off front of flip, with thumbs pressing down, to where batteries are stored. after taking out batteries, up top you will see a small and flat gray box with a mini black thing sticking out of it. take something sharp, like a pencil or pen, and press down to the back, closer to lens, that black thing for sixty seconds exactly. one minute to be exact. next, slowly put the batteries back in correctly, and put on the cover of your flip. at the bottom, slide to locked lock. wait three minutes or so. then try turning it on. after you see it works, plug it in to the computer as quickly as you can. the way you do that is by sliding metal piece down on side until a plug shoots out. you plug that in to the correct sized jack on your computer. let it charge as long as half as a day. before unplugging, eject the flip in the right hand corner on the computer screen. CONTINUE READING!! if still when you plug it into the computer after the metal box process and nothing does anything on your computer that is no good. if no boxes that say download pix or anything don't pop up that is the same. look in the bottom right corner of computer screen and maybe something is there. if not any of those thing, repeat the whole process of this paragraph over again. after doing this process a few times your flip and still not working might be trash. after doing metal box thing a few times and it does not turn on it might be trash. by the way, i am a ten year old girl in fourth grade who likes cheese, has a flip, and lives in NJ. thanks guys! i am always willing to help out others.

My Flip Ultra HD has a red light that blinks when I try to charge it. It won't charge, what can I do to charge it?

Make sure you use a good USB 2 port and make sure your computer stays turned ON during the charging or it will not charge. The red light should stay on on the front of the camcorder while charging and will go off when charging is complete.
Try a different USB port maybe also. or if using a USB extension make sure it is a powered extension, and if not, connect the camcorder directly into a USB instead of using an extension.
My extension has a light to show that it is a powered extension.

I found some interesting information about your camera. It turns out that the camcorder will only charge its battery if it detects the physical presence of its rechargeable battery pack. Battery detection depends on two physical components. One is a switch located at the top of the battery compartment, The other is a little plastic tab included with the battery pack

Instructions for the fix are located at this link: Fixing Flip UltraHD that won charge its battery

My Flipshare video camera will not turn on. When I try to power it up on my computer or with the power cord, nothing happens. No light goes on, no nothing. Pleas help!

Hi d_cockerham,

You should try resetting your Ultra HD Flip Camcorder. Unfortunaately the support knowledgebase does not list the proceedure but I managed to get an email from them on how to proceed.

The steps to reset/resolve an issue where your UltraHD will NOT turn "On" is as follows:
  1. Remove the battery pack from the camcorder.
  2. Connect the camcorder to a powered USB port on your computer.
  3. When the "Connected" indicator comes on, insert the battery pack into the camcorder.
  4. Safe eject your camcorder from your computer.
  5. Reconnect your camcorder to your computer.
  6. The battery pack should now begin to charge within the camcorder
Hope this helps anyone else who encountered similar problems.

UNIT: ultraHD
PROBLEM:
I just had this problem: I turned it on, started to record a video, but it hung up on frame #1, with the record red light stuck on. And I couldn't do any of the following: restart the recording, play already recorded videos, turn it off, connect to PC.
SOLUTION:
I removed the battery for about 30 seconds, then replaced it. my UltraHD flip works great now.

Flip ultra hd not charging

I had the same problem, but it seemed to be a bit more sporadic. I'd occasionally get the "Charging Paused - Check Battery Pack" error. The battery pack itself looks a bit strange, since the white plastic covers the bottom, right side and it seems that there is no possible way for the battery to make contact with the camera. However, I saw the following suggestion on another site (which the poster claimed came from Flip technical support), and this technique worked for me:

1) remove the battery pack from the camcorder
2) connect the camcorder to a powered USB port on your computer
3) when the "Connected" indicator comes on, insert the battery pack into the camcorder
4) safe eject your camcorder from your computer
5) reconnect your camcorder to your computer
6) the battery pack should now begin to charge within the camcorder

Camera software corrupted??

I had the same problem with my flip mino HD. Here are the steps I took to fix it.

1. Adjust the power options on your laptop to ensure it does not sleep/hiberate ever.
2. Reset the camcorder by inserting a paperclip into the hole in the tripod mount. Hold the paperclip in there for about seven seconds.
3. Then immediately plug the flip into the cpu.
4. You may not see anything besides the little blinking white light on the USB arm for a while (about 30 minutes maybe) but leave it in.
5. Eventually it should spring to life and show the recharging battery on the little screen (the Flip Share program may start too.)
6. Leave it charging until the little white light stops flashing - full charge about 3 hours.
7. You can then remove the flip and change the power settings back to normal.

Flip Mino HD battery will not recharge

I panicked when I saw all these posts but the reset did work for me. Others say it doesn't but this first time at least, it did the trick. I stuck the end of a paper clip in the little hole in where the tripod mount is (it's further recessed than the mount itself). It doesn't seem like it fits, but it does. The minoHD was off, since by this time it wouldn't turn on. When I tried to turn it on again, it finally came on with the battery in the red zone. I recharged and it appears to be fine.

Flip video won't charge

If you look on the bottom of the camera there is a button that slides from a locked to an unlocked position. Slide it to unlocked and then slide down the back of the camera (the side with the lens) there is a removeable rechargeable battery pack. Remove it for a moment and then put it back in. Try plugging back into the USB port. This should work.
