If the power and the hard disk light are on and you can see a dim image on the LCD screen when you view it at a sharp angle, then most likely you have a backlight fault which is caused by a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow my instructions to determine the fault and possible fix :-

Black pixels on my sreen that are speading

If they are dead pixels, and there is nothing you can do. Get it replaced. If it is a stuck pixel, then you can gently rub it or wait till is unfreezes. I would contact ASUS or vendor being that it's new.

When I use my 19" tv monitor as a computer screen, the display seems to be too large for the sreen. I have to scroll left and right to see the whole picture. please help.

this is a graphics card issue. you need to google search for a driver specifically for that tv resolution. Other options will be to check the tv can be set in computer mode. or change to wide screen option to enable the entire view to be seen. Have a play around its an easy fix.

Screen goes blank

Screen going black would indicate a data flow problem- but then you would see a warning saying words to this affect or a back light/inverter problem. If by looking slightly sideways at the sreen you can see 'shadow images'[try a moving image to be syre] then you have a backlight /inverter problem If you see nothing at all ckecj the data cable pins- one or more may be bent
