You really should be using a "Time-base corrector" to replace the vertical sync signal with a good, new signal. I rather think that you are trying to copy commercial movies, and this is what happens because of the Macro-vision copy protection...accordianman

Just purchased bush dvd player with hdmi and i wish to play a dvd which i have had (sometime ago) transferred from video/cine film. I am unable to get it to load/play. As these are all memories from...

The older laser player/burners may have used a different angle for the read/write service. It is like a phonograph needle sitting in a groove that tracks the data as it pans the surface.
Try to COPY the CD/DVD to the desktop if you can. If you know the OLD player worked, use that to COPY the Data to your Current computer desktop and then copy that back to new CD using the new hardware.

D-VR18DTKB - When dubbing from video to DVD is it possible to edit a section out without stopping the dubbing, winding tape on to clear the section and then go through the whole dubbing routine again ?...

Get sycronized because you're going to have to stop the video player and the CD you are dubbing onto at the exact second or have a glitch in it. I used to do weddings and other video services and used two sometimes three cameras. If I were you I could edit my video before I downloaded it to a master copy unless of course you have a hi-tech CD recorder with a built in dubbing feature. I didn't but one of my cameras did. I would make a rough video mixing different scenes from different cameras and get the scenes and angles where I wanted them in the video. When it looked right I usually edited music over it or narrated it, didn't have a CD player more less a recorder back then. If you are using a camera or a video recorder that will fade in and out use that feature to do your editing. It works perfect and looks good, If it fades in different colors use a color that kinda reflects on the previous scene or that will set up the next scene. When you get your tape like you want it burn it on to a DVD!. this will make a good master disk. I am going out on a limb and assuming that you are using video tape to do this, but if your using CD's the same principle applies. It can be a lot of fun and when you get good at it and get a computer with the right software you can move heads and add and replace people. If you have access to a computer you can download software for free that will let you do a professional of a rough CD to your master and it will do most of the work. Remember, if you copy a second generation Cd you can get pretty good quality but the more it's copied the more quality it looses. Good luck and have fun; dhgill

Hello
You are talking about Magnavox MWD2205 DVD/CD player with video casette recorder I thinks. If so, I've its user manual with me, but I can't send its copy to you by this site as it does not allow me to send pdf files. I don't remember from which site I've downloaded it. If you want its copy, send your email address to me by FixYa comment box. I'll send a copy of it to you by return mail. OK.

I have a sylvania Video cassette Recorder/DVD player. Is there a way to copy the DVD onto videotape with this machine

It depends what you want to copy on DVD on to the video. If it's a commercial film, forget it! The machine/disc will have macrovision on it which will destroy any transfer to video. Otherwise there should be a button that says copy or dub that will let you record other types of DVD recordings to tape. But I can't understand why you would want to as the loss of quality would be bad.

I have recorded from Vhs tape to a DVD-R. When I insert DVD-R to play in Emerson EWD2202 it tells me that playback feature may not be available on this disc. Emerson's manual says it will play DVD-R....

Without sounding too pretentious, I would first advise you to use a QUALITY disc for exactly this reason! Don't be afraid to spend a little more on some TDK or Hitachi/Maxell DVDs! **** DVDs will fail as much as 25-40% of the time, making them no bargain at all!!

That being said, I would also inquire as to exactly what methods/products were used in the transfer process. There are several different ways of writing data to the disc (DAO, TAO, etc...), as well as many different video formats (did you select "Make a video CD" from your application? This will only work in digital video disc players, NOT DVD players!). Only a few (if that) will typically work on any given player.

On that note, my advice would first be to copy the data from the disc back onto your PC if possible (if it isn't still there already), or even from the VHS tape again, and take a look at the file name, particularly the extension, of the copied video file(s). If the extension is not .mpg or .mpeg, then it is NOT in DVD format, and converting to the appropriate format would be a necessary part of your transfer process. Also, make sure you are creating a DVD, not a video disc! They are different! Rewrite the data to the disc in the appropriate format on good quality media using the same process as before and you should be good to go!

I hope this helps! If not, please comment with any additional information and I will respond ASAP and we will get things figured out for you. Thanks for your questions!

DVD - Video Finalization rejection

1. The message can appear if the disc has already been finalised.

2. The disc may be faulty.

3. Try copying again from HDD to another disc. Performing a copy and finalise together by using 'DVD Video Creation' from the Edit menu can be more successful than doing each step separately.

4. When you transferred from your video camera, did you use firewire? If so, did you record at the maximum (default) bitrate of 14+ ? If so, you must copy (rate conversion) to the DVD at a maximum bitrate of 9.2, which is the maximum for the DVD playback standard.
