Hello, My winXP cannot recognize monitor Asus VH232T - windows suggests 4:3 resolutions only. Can you please advise where can I download the monitor driver? Video card is ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 Thank...

Hi

Monitors do not generally require drivers. The .inf drivers to run almost all monitors are already in Windows.

The problem here is in the settings of the graphics card.

Many users aim for Maximum resolution, when what they should aim for is Optimum resolution, balancing the RAM, CPU, GPU, GRAM and Monitor''s resources in the most efficient and effective way.

Keeping the relevant software updated also has an impact on graphics performance (grpahics Card Drivers, Java, Flash, DirectX, Video Codecs, etc.)

If the video resolution is set too high (or too low), beyond the graphics capabilities of the monitor, on reboot, the monitor will be unable to resolve the image.

The simplest solution would be to use a different monitor to adjust the video resolution, shut down then test the preferred monitor again.

Right Click on desktop>Properties>Settings then use the slider scale to adjust resolution, then Apply, Yes on the optimum setting, them OK.

Find the optimum setting in XP with your graphics card for this monitor and you should be fine.

Hope this helps.

Can I restore native resolution on my Compaq without a manual?

HA! ya'll should check this out!...

1. First, ignore any advice that you should disable any monitor driver that was supporting a second monitor. Keep your monitor driver(s) enabled, even though it means multiple monitor mode remains "on".
2. As long as multiple monitors is "on", your advanced settings dialog will have more available settings than otherwise (through Properties>Display>Settings tab> Advanced button). So instead of 4 tabs (in one row), you should see 12 tabs in two rows!!
3. Select the Displays tab and click on Panel. Un-check (a blue radio button) "Scale image to panel size".
4. Then select the Adapter tab. Click the button "List All Modes". The list will now include ratios: 640x480, 600x800, 1024x768, 1152x864, 1280x768, 1280x1024, 1600x1200, 1680x1050, 1920x1080, 1920x1200, 1920x1440, and 2048x1536.

Ta DA!!

I've just installed a dell 24 diagnoal flat mmonitor. I need to know how to set it up so the picture is not distorted. Now everything looks Short and fat. Any advice??

You have to adjust the resolution. Right click on your sektop in an area away from icons. If you have Windows 7, it will say screen resolution as one of your choices and will offer you the most advantageous resolution for your setup. If you have Vista, scroll down to personalize, select display settings and play around with the resolutions until it looks good to you. Resolution for the most part is a personal preference for people. In XP scroll down to properties, then from that window, you can change the resolution. I have twin 24 inch Acers and I run resolutions of 1680 X 1050 on each one.

I had to reinstall my Viewsonic monitor after getting a new hard drive. Now the screen shows everything is a horizontal stretched mode. How do I get it to normal aspect ratio?

It seems like the display resolution was not set to the optimal resolution for your monitor.

To correct this, follow this guide. I am assuming you have Windows XP.

1) Navigate to the Control Panel in Microsoft Windows by left-clicking on Start, followed by Settings and then choosing Control Panel.

2) In the Control Panel window, open Display.

Note:
In Microsoft Windows XP, depending on how your operating system is setup, you may not see the Display icon. To correct this, click on the link on the left-hand side of the Control Panel window that says Switch to Classic View.

3) In the Display Properties window, click on the Settings tab.

4) Slide the Screen resolution slider all the way to the right for your optimal resolution.

5) Click the OK or Apply button to confirm the changes. If prompted, follow any additional on screen directions.

NOTE: If the text appears too small, go back to step 4 and try a different position on the slider until you get it how you like it.

Good luck on solving your computer problem.

Picture too big

Hi,

Assuming that it is not a hardware problem, in Windows XP (or in most Windows version), you need to increase your display screen resolution. To do this, pls click on any clear area of your desktop. Click on Properties, click on the Settings tab, move the Screen resolution slider towards the right. Tha maximum resolution of your Acer LCD is 1280 x 1024. Set it to your preference/allowable. Click on Apply button, click on Yes button, OK.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
