Question about Palm Tungsten E2 Handheld

Won't turn on I press the power button

The E2 was working just fine yesterday, and then later in the afternoon it would not turn on. I pressed all the buttons, sometimes twice to three times in hope a miracle would occur, and nothing happened. I also set it up to charge last night, but did not hear my usual "beep!" when I put in the little charge plug (and yes, the charger was plugged in). This morning it still does not want to turn on. Thanks for any help.

T 5, I my palm will not turn off, it desplays the PalmPower sign only. I have replaced the battery hoping that this was the problem, still an issue. Whe I reset the palm, I do not hear the tones when it starts up. If I hold down the on off switch it desplays to reset push the up button. I do not know what the "up button" is I have tried all the buttons. Any direction is welcome. BJG

E2 suddenly dead, unresponsive to buttons or screen taps. Fully charged. Soft reset several times, no response. Weird part is that removing the SD card and reinserting it does produce a sound, nothing else.

My PDA was on and I was looking through my calendar when it shut off and will not re-turn on. I pressed the power button several times.... it appears dead... no response. I am afraid to push the reset button as I fear it will wipe out my data. I use it frequently and feel bare without it. Any info is appreciated. I will keep messing with it.

Bought a new E2 and had trouble turning it on. Sometimes it would turn on, sometimes not. Now it won't turn on at all. I tried pushing in the on/off button while pushing the reset button at the same time. No luck.

Tungsten E2 will not pwer on. I tried soft reset, hard reset and still nothing. The normal beep that I hear when I connect the charger is missing... Called Palm support and they want $149.00 for service... This is very unfair that they do not stand behind their product. I feel lost without my palm..

    I NEED HELP!!!!!!

There is a replacement battery that can be found on ebay for the Tungstern E2. I'm told like any re-chargable battery this one gives out too...

How do I do a hard reset for the Palm Tungsten E2

Press and hold the Power button, and, whilst keeping it pressed, briefly press the reset pin with the stylus pen (a paper clip would also do the job). When the 'Palm Powered' logo comes up, release the Power button. A warning message asking for confirmation will appear. Confirm by pressing the D-pad's Up button.
By the way, if you happen to miss your device's user guide, feel free to download it from this location.
Hope you are able to sort your problems out.
Regards, Carlos

Handheld will no longer hotsync. I think the program was corrupted on the computer and I accidentally deleted one of the files. I'd like to download another program and reinstall it on my computer.

Hi Dr.Coldoff,

Please remove and reinstall the software to see if it works. Or else try to reset your Device:
How to reset the Tungsten E2
1 Press and hold the power button.
2 While holding the power button, use the tip of the stylus (or a similar object
without a sharp tip) to gently press and release the reset button inside the hole
on the back of your handheld.
3 Wait for the Palm Powered? logo to appear, and then release the power button.
4 When you see the message that warns you about erasing all of the info on your
handheld, do one of the following:
* Press Up on the 5-way navigator to finish the reset and show the touchscreen.
* Press any other button to do a soft reset.

In case you are facing any difficulties, forward me your email ID and I will reply to it

My Palm tungsten E2 hand held PDA is totally frozen and locked up

Best thing to do here is to remove any memory cards etc.. and do a hard reset - seems like soft reset will or has not worked...

Press and hold the power button - keep it pressed and gently press the reset button on the back of the handheld.
Wait for the Palm Powered logo to appear and release the power button.
You should get a message warning about erasing all data. Press up on your 5-way navigator to reset.

This will erase all data inlcuding user information from the device, but synchronizing should get it all back - but you will loose anything that was not recently sync'd

good luck

Palm power

Other than pressing the power button, the device will turn on if one of the four buttons on the face of the device are pressed (calendar, notes, task list, etc). So check to see if they might be getting pressed by accident. Unless it is protected by a hard cover, it is possible that a button is being pressed by accident in your pocket, backpack, suitcase or wherever you carry it.

Let me know if that helps.

PS - The device will also turn on if a reminder or alarm is set.
