Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Keyboard cursor keeps movin g and won't stop, cant type keeps spacing The problem is that occasionally the cursor goes ripping down the pageand is very difficult to stop. It's as if I was pressing the enter keyto create huge areas of white space. I can click with the mouse, delete the white space but as soon as I release the mouse, away goesthe cursor again. (Is it called a cursor because we curse frequentlyat its misdeeds?) Sometimes shutting the computer and rebooting solves the problem and sometimes it doesn't. I've tried cleaning mouse and keyboard. It doesn't happen often but when it does..... [expletives deleted]. I am using a Dell keyboard, a Dell CPU Dimension 4550 and a Microsoft light mouse (not the roller ball type). However, I had the same problem when I was using my first mouse which was a roller ball type, which is why I bought a new mouse. The problem seems to be independent of the mouse.

Hello ARRG,

It looks like the problem is with the keyboard, and not the mouse. To verify, try the k/b on a different computer. If the issue occurs there as well, it means the k/b is defective and you may have to replace it.

If however, it functions well on the other PC, then it could be a problem with either the port or the driver, or the keyboard itself.

First try the k/b on another free port, if available. If it works OK, then the original port is damaged and you will need to take the PC to a competent technician to get it fixed.

Next, try to download the latest drive for your keyboard and install that after uninstalling the older version. If this does not work as well, consider buying a new keyboard....I always recommend the corded variety, as they are more reliable.

Should you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here.

P.S. Before you assign a rating, please make sure that the issue is resolved or you are satisfied. If not, please post back as to what you did, and/or any other questions you may have, and I will try to assist you as best I can. Please do not assign an ‘Inappropriate’ or ‘Thanks for trying’ rating if your issue is not resolved after the first response itself, as sometimes a bit of to and fro dialogue may be necessary before we can find a fix or an answer to your query.

If you find that the solution/answer I provided led you to, or resulted in a fix, please close the ticket with a FixYa! or Helpful rating. I would be very grateful for your show of appreciation.

Thank you for using FIXYA!

Cheers!

Keyboard not typing

Are the keyboard and mouse both 'wireless'? Try using a different keyboard on your computer, or taking the keyboard to a friend's computer. You do not say if you are on a laptop or a PC?
