Go to support.dell.com (dont type www before that)
click on drivers & downloads
look for an option to enter a "Service Tag" This "Service tag" is located on a sticker somewhere on your actual computer. Enter it exactly as printed on the sticker.
It will bring you to a list of software that was on the disk that you are missing. Go to the audio section and try the different ones available. There may be several different files. i cant tell which one will work without actually looking at your computer sorry. Just try different ones and hope for the best.

Hope this helped

Good Luck!

Compaq presario wont start up

Several things could cause this. First try eliminating a few potentials sources of the problem --unplug external devices from the computer like external hard drives, usb sticks, printers, external speakers, etc. and see if you can boot the computer normally. If you can boot normally, try rebooting into safe mode and then running chkdsk. You may have to tap F10 repeatedly during rebooting to get to option such as safe mode. Allow chkdsk to complete its run; that takes considerable patience. IF you need to know how to run chkdisk, you can look that up in the F1 help screen while in safe mode. Uninstall whatever software you installed just before the crash. Reboot and allow normal booting. BUT BACKUP your critical information immediately if you get a good boot!

IF that does not fix the problem, you might have to look into using the recovery partition. That will likely allow a return to factory defaults, either with an erasure of your data or not, depending upon which option you decide upon. If all is erased, you may have to reinstall a considerable amount of software and reactivate windows via the internet. How do you get to the recovery partition? That is probably an option popping up when you hit F10. "R" for recovery.

Factory restore

Dell Dimension computers have a built-in PC restore system that allows you to quickly restore the PC to its original factory settings.
The PC restore is located in a hidden partition of the PC's hard drive and contains a copy of the computer's original factory installed software.
There are two different ways to restore the Dimension's settings depending on which operating system your computer is running.

Windows XP

Disconnect all peripheral equipment that is attached to your computer such as printer, scanner, external hard drive and memory sticks.
Restart the computer.
After the Dell screen appears on the monitor, hold down the "Ctrl" key and press the "F11" key.
If the Windows XP screen appears before you can finish this step, wait for the computer to finish rebooting and restart the computer again.

Highlight "Restore" in the Dell PC Restore window by using the tab button.
Hit "Enter."

Highlight "Confirm" in the restore warning box by using the tab button.
Hit "Enter."
This will start the system restore process.
Do not attempt to turn off the computer during this process or vital system files may be damages and you will not be able to restart your computer.

Click "Finish" in the box that notifies you that the restoration has been successful.

Hit "Enter" to restart the computer.
The computer has been restored to the original factory settings.

Windows Vista

Disconnect all peripheral equipment that is attached to your computer such as printer, scanner, external hard drive and memory sticks.

Restart the computer.
After the Dell screen appears on the monitor, press the "F8" key.
If the Windows Vista screen appears before you can finish this step, wait for the computer to finish rebooting and restart the computer again.

Highlight "Repair Your Computer" by using the down arrow key in the Advanced Boot window.
Hit the "Enter" key.

Click "Next" after selecting a language. Log into the computer as an administrator.
"OK." Choose "Dell Factory Restore."
Click "Next."

Check "Yes" next to the reformat the hard drive and restore factory settings option.
Click "Next" to start the restoration process.
Do not attempt to turn off the computer during this process or vital system files may be damages and you will not be able to restart your computer.

Click "Finish" in the box that notifies you that the restoration has been successful.
The computer will automatically restart itself to its original factory settings.

Emachine 3653 factory restore

You can use the Restore CD that came with the computer. The eMachines restore disk sets your PC back to factory settings with the original operating system and programs that were shipped with the computer. Doing so resolves many problems that can arise from long-term computer use, viruses, or the operating system slowing down.

1. To do a factory restore insert the restore CD then reboot the computer. When prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.

2. Select the option to "Reformat the drive to factory settings."

3. Follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall the operating system and original software that came with your computer.

4. Once the Restore finishes, you can re-install all the programs that you added to the computer as well as restore your files.

Reminder: Reformatting your computer erases all of your installed programs, personal documents, pictures and music. If you have the ability to, back up all of your personal data using a removable flash drive, external hard drive or DVDs before doing a Factory Restore.

My HP Pavilion a1253w desktop is crashed. Virus, stopped it in its tracks. I wish to open this dinosaur up and see if replacing the hard drive will help bring back to life. I have the ecovery discs. ...

Before you open it up try to restore to factory settings. Reboot your computer and when it comes up to the hp screen at boot press the reset to factory recovery key, it should show up on your screen but usually it's the f11 key. If your recovery partition is intact it will recover to the original factory settings. If your recovery partition is not there or has been deleted, you can use your recovery disks provided you can boot from one of them (usually the first one.) If the above two attempts fail, you can try to install windows from your windows cd. If you can reformat your hard drive and reinstall windows then you will be ok but you will have to go to www.hp.com and download your drivers onto another computer and copy them to a flash drive, cd, or an external hdd so you can install them on your computer.
Theeeen, if all else fails you can now replace the hard drive if you wish. If you want to do this then again go to www.hp.com, click on support and drivers, click on the see support and troubleshooting information button. In Step 2 enter a12532w and click on Solve a Problem, next click on adding and replacing hardware. Now click on replacing the hard drive watch a video on how to replace the hard drive, along with some illustration. Good luck and have fun! Let me know how it turns out.

Factory setting restore

If you have a Cd Rom called a Recovery Disk that usually comes with the computer. You can reformat the computer to it's original configurations. You will lose all data. It will be as if you took it right out of the box. Or on some computers you can do a Recovery only withour reformatting the PC. you will have to reinstall all updates , programs, etc. you turn off the computer and install the disc then you restart the computer. The disk will give you the option to Recover Only or Recover and Format.

I need to crash my acer 5100 laptop so i can reboot it to the factory state

no need to crash it, j

ust save your important documents on an external drive (or a USB flash), restart the computer, when it is booting click and hold ALT+F10

this will initiate a restore procedure to original factory state, remember all documents and files will be lost, so back them up externally before you do this

my old computer had a problem like this, i think the only way to fix a problem like this would be to reformat your hard drive and reinstall your operating system, which would delete everything on your hard drive...if you do not want to lose the files on your hard drive, you can hook up the hard drive to a different computer as a secondary drive and take the files you need off of it...then put the drive back in the original computer and reformat...after that just put back the files back on the original computer with a flash drive or an external hard drive...
cant think of another way to solve this

the cd you have that comes along with your pc is the recovery cd. The recovery cd is only good if you like to restore to the previous factory default setup when you first purchased your computer. "Reformatting" is re-installing a fresh Operating system. I believed your problem is a unstable Operating System. by reformating you will have a very fresh system. You can call or go to the nearest computer repair shop to do the reformatting for you. Hope i ve help you in any way
