Question about Onkyo TA RW544 Single Dual Cassette Deck
When you turn on power and press play there is no movement in the play motor. No play, no FF, no REC, no rewind, nothing. Power does come up.
It's an Onkyo TA-2055
From being a Pro-tech and working on these and other like them I'd say it's the main belt+ idler wheel that has worn out.
Very challenging job to do..Like knightstar7 said

Sounds like the belt that drives the capstan is too slack or decomposed, The capstan(s) which are connected to a geared flywheel, also drives the transport mechanism. There can also be tarnish on the sensor leaf switches, preventing contact. You might try to repair it yourself but, it is not an easy or simple job
