Question about Dell 922 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Black stopped printing out. Dell 922 all-in-one ink jet.

Black stopped printing out.  All my ink cartridges are the correct ones from Dell.  My black ink was at about 50% when the black printouts stopped.  I tried a new black cartridge but it still won't print black.  The paper feeds OK and the printer goes through the motions but the paper comes out blank.  The color cartridge seems to be working OK. I replaced the black ink as directed (tried two new cartridges) and got the same message -- low black ink. Turning off machine and rebooting doesn't help. Printer still thinks it's short of black ink. Instruction manual of no help in solving this problem. Suggestions appreciated.

Did you already run the head cleaning cycle from the utility?

    Go to start then control panel then printers & hardware then select printers and
    faxes click on printer icon with black checkmak then select prferences
    the set printer properties you wil find the utility tab for cleaning the nozzles

Dell 922 won't print black ink... only uses color cartridge... I can't find selection to use black ink only. The checkbox for print black n white for color is grayed out... Cartridge levels show black ink...


Perhaps the printer does not recognize that a mono/black cartridge is installed. Remove the mono cartridge and check to see that tape is removed then re-seat firmly. Unplug the printer from wall power to reset. Then try again.

Want to print with black ink cartridge only


It is a little known fact that ink cartridges do have an expiry date, and it is sometimes possible that even if a printer reads full, that it has dried out and will not print. When you recieve a warning that your ink is too low you will simply be unable to print black ink after a certain point. Generaly if you want to print in only black you will have to do that when you print a document. For instance in IE when you go to file and then print you can select prefrences and select print in greyscale or black. hope this helps!

Printer Always Indicates Ink is Low or Cartridge is Incorrect


To get rid of the low ink warnings google the specific error message with 'ink refill' and look for 'engineers reset' or similar ..

NB. Dell printers (re-badged Lexmarks) are notorious for ink usage and high costs .. so my best recommendation would be to throw it away and purchase something else ..

Black ink problems


Most likely there is a problem with the ink level reader. Replace the black ink cartridge.

PRINT command


uninstall ink with printer on and turn off then back on when printer says install ink do so if that doesnt work clean contacts with rubbing alcohl on ink cartriges.

DELL AIO 922- All in one- Printer won't print


Remove the right ink cartridge (color). You will get an error saying the cartridge is empty, but ignore that. Hit cancel on your printer. Print your job...when your print screen comes up, under preferences check the box for print colors in black and white. Your printer should print just fine without the color cartridge. Ignore the flashing red light.
