If you have DSL or more probably, ADSL internet connections, the issue is with your LAN port. I don't really understand the part of your question where you say "it's uninstalled". Migh be a problem with your modem. I would connect the modem it to another computer.and verify it it works. Modems doesn't have a driver. its the LAN port which has the drivers so a modem shoud work, it it works, with any other computer. If you found it has a problem take the modem for a checkup with a technician sometimes it can be reapires because or some minor problem.
If modem is ok, you should look up in Control Panel your Hardware Arministrator and check if any hardware, specifically, LAN or Unknown Device have a yellow question mark.
Find the origina CD or DVD with the drivers of your computer and try to reinstall it. If can't "find" it and you had it correctly working before so it "disappeared" it is quiete probable that you have a problem with the LAN card.
