I still have no sound on my dell latitude C 640,when i go to device manager it shows legacy audio drivers installed by win xp which do not work.I've tried the drivers provided by dell but they dont work.please assist.where possible,provide solutions that have been tested and actually work.thanks

- I have the same problem, I was informed the error was caused by a faulty modem. I removed it but still having the exact same problem. I did get it to find the audio card once using an alternate driver then XP gave me an error 10 code. - chopperdude4Solution #1

update to vista and sound drivers loaded or scan vista cd for the drivers

i installed windows xp service pack 3 in dell c640 latitude laptop after which the multimedia audio controller driver is not installed.
