Try connecting the TV directly to a different wall outlet and check. If the issue persists, try power resetting the TV. Turn Off the TV and remove the power plug from the wall outlet for 1 minute and reconnect it and check the operation. If the issue persists, then the TV requires service.

TV needs new lamp as symptom shows existing lamp is weak and causing repeatedly on-off
Please replace lamp in TV, replacement procedure is written in user manual and it is not difficult.
Always buy Sony original lamp for TV safety.

I had this problem a few years ago. The service technician replaced the bulb which he said was over-heating, and that fixed it.

more than likely the VCR load mechanism has a problem it may be out of sync or the load sensor LED inside the mechanism has failed (most common problem). a tech should repair this.
