Question about Canon PIXMA MP160 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Doesn't print correctly

It's the wierdest thing. When I print something (this only happens sometimes) instead of printing the correct document it prints one letter or number after what it is supposed to be. So like if I wanted to print Account it prints Bddpvou. It happens with letters and numbers. I am trying to print something that is 14 pages and on page 2 through 14 it prints like this. Page 1 is normal. I don't get it.

Current printers do not have a 'built-in' font or character set. The printers only print what they are told to print by the application from which they are printing. What program are you printing from? Does it do this with all programs? Check printing from very basic programs like Notepad or Wordpad (print documents that are at least a couple of pages long). If the printer prints correctly from there, you may need to contact the publisher of the program that is giving you the weird printing.

Text missing when document is printed from Brother MFC-9840CWD

Hello,This issue may becaused by poor connection. Check to see if all interface connection cables arein the printer. If the printer doesn't establish good connection with thecomputer print quality will decrease.Second thing you can check are thesettings on the computer. Are they matching with settings in Brother MFC-9840CWD.This is issue is not caused from the toner cartridge or drum unit.

No content prints on document when word document is sent to the printer

Is the problem only with Microsoft Word? If so you might have selected something else in the "Print What" box in the "Print" dialog box instead of "Document". See the below screenshot and make sure that the "Document" is selected. The Print dialog box will come up when you click the "Print" sub-menu from the "File" menu, i.e. click "File" and select "Print".

If this doesn't help, reinstall the printers drivers/softwares. That should fix your problem.
If the problem isn't only with Microsoft Word Documents, then there might be other problems with your printer, it could be cartridge/s, ink, drivers, etc..
Let me know if you need further help.
Good Luck.
Thanks for using FixYa.

I have a MFC 490CW brother Printer I want to print B/W copies only I change the preference to grayscale but still does not print

Hi there,
That's the correct thing that you need to do, setting the printer preferences to GRAYSCALE. If that doesn't work you can also try printing document using a different/another application (example: Microsoft Word, Excel), because sometimes the setting of an application overrides the setting of the printer driver.
The last option for this issue is to uninstall and reinstall the printer driver.
Hope this helps. Rate if it works. Thanks

I have a word document that will not print a page range. It will print individual pages, but not a range. Other word documents will print a page range

If it's just one document that fails, it isn't the printer.
Something is not set up correctly in that document.

Get it printed anyway that you can.

EKM!1395/5 AEKM!!!!! printing message

Unistall the printer using the Control Panel

Go to Epsom www.epson.co.uk/

Obtain the drivers for the printer and copy them to a location on your hard drive re-install the printer using the Add Printer in the Printers and Faxes area if XP finds the LX allow it to install.

Once it is installed do a Print Test page , if the print is correct you are on a roll if not go to Device Manager and ask it to update the driver
It will ask you if you have a better driver say yes and point it to the entry you made on your hard drive

Double sided issues

Duplex means 2 sided copying. If you have an odd number of pages, then it will do this if you are sticking them all together (if I understand what you are saying correctly). Either seperate your jobs or stick a blank piece of paper at the end to correct this. Again, I am not sure if I am understanding your situation correctly, but I think that will correct it if its what I think you are saying? Clear as mud, huh?

Printer prints partial page and then stops

We have had the same problem. I have found that if I close all windows not being used on the computer, then try to print the document again the entire document prints. This happens on an older computer we have that doesn't have alot of RAM.

Problem: only prints every other line of document

I think you have nailed it.
Strangely enough, that is not an uncommon issue.
One word processor format may be changed when you transfer the documents to another.
I have even witnessed that very thing totally crash printers.
Very large printers. I would say what you surmise is exactly correct.
May want to see if there are some print driver options to try, AKA switch from PS to PCL . They may help.
