    Hi everyone..

I seem to have the same kind of problem with my compaq-Presario SR1750NX desktop. Suddenly, my CD/DVDW doesn't want to read, write or anything. But when I look in the device manager, it tells me that "This device is working properly."

OK, what's going on? Is there a virus on these Samsung items?

Someone, anyone please help. I am on my very last nerve.

    Smiles

I have the same problem. It won't read any discs I put in and I don't hear the fan turning on when I put the disc in.

the green light blinks as if it was reading it but nothing happensl I checked in the computer and it told me it was running properly. But when I insert a disc it tells me to put a proper disc in or it says there is no disc in the drive.

Mine is a SR172ONX PC everything on it is original nothing added. Its 3yrs old and the warranty is out dated.

How old is the cd writer? Is this the one that came with the pc when you bought it? Or is it an aftermarket drive?

Hello,
what operating system did you replace XP 32bit, XP 64bit? Was the version of Vista you used the 32bit or the 64bit. You may need to go to HP.Com and look for replacement drivers for the DVD. You can also use the windows update to obtain correct drivers for the DVD if they have tested them already. Another option is to go to the manufacturer of the DVD device and see what they list for the driver. Just remember there is a big differance between the 32bit and 64bit drivers. Read on the Vista system you installed and see what level was installed in your system. Regards, rcampsr

Does it show up in your BIOS settings? If so, then go back into BIOS, where the setting for CD/DVD Boot Priority selection is, select the one you have issues with and hit the "Page Up" on your Keyboard so that CD/DVD is the 1st to boot (of CD/DVD's, that is...) then go to Item Boot Priority and make your HDD the 1st Boot item, the CD/DVD you have issues with be your 2nd boot device, and add two more Bootable items or have the last settings say Bootable. Now, restart your machine, let it go through its Boot sequence, now go into Device Manager, find your CD/DVD, open Region,, choose the Region you are in and hit APPLY, the go to Populate- NEXT TO Region, click POPULATE, then close out of everything and try it out. If it still doesn't work, uninstall the drivers, remove the CD/DVD, all cables and write down the Make, Model & Serial# on top of the CD/DVD Drive (SAVE for later!), reinstall. Do ALL I mentioned above, 1st, then try it again. If it still doesn't work, you will have to go to the manuf. HOME website, find your make, model & serial #, they will either have a sftwr. dwnld. or both a Flash sftwr. dwnld. (Desktop and automatic- don't worry, it does all of the work) and the latest sftwr. driver- which willmost likely be found by the Flash program they have you dwnld. So, take your time, be patient and keep your chin up. By the way, is it the Philips Brand? If so, then you WILL have to do ALL of this. I build PC and repair-maintain as a hobby and the Philips, ASUS and SONY are always doing something like this to most of their Image Drives because of specific motherboards... Good Luck and, again, be patient.

Try getting a cd lens cleaner- you may have a dirty laser lens. If you still have problems, you will need to speak with your pc manufacturer's techsupport.

Media Center Receiver Service has encountered a problem and needs to close.

If you delete the information in the Control Panel and restart your computer, it will look for the driver by itself.
