NOT CLEAN...SOAP LEFT ON DISHES

I love my dishwasher and hate to think that I need a new one...but for the last few weeks we are haing trouble getting the soap out of the washer. I can rerun the load of dishes and open the door during the new cycle and there is tons of soap...and we haven't added soap this time. Any ideas as to what is wrong? Do I just need a new dishwasher. Hate to call a repair man when my husband can hopefully do it, if we find out what to try

Grab a can of morton salt let it fill and start to wash open the door and throw a hand full of salt into the machine try to hit as much of the tub as you can
start the machine and let it start to wash
and salt again and let it start to wash
hit cancel and let it drain
you may have to repeat this a couple of times but the salt will nutralize the soap and you will not have to buy a new one

How much vinegar do you add to the dishwasher?

For regular monthly maintenance fill the dishwasher soap dish with vinegar once a month and run a regular cycle with an empty dishwasher. If you're having problems with dishes not getting clean or dishwasher soap build up on the floor of your dishwasher do the above now. You may need to run the empty dishwasher with vinegar a few times to clean the drain lines; running empty once a week with vinegar is not too often.

Filter doesn't self-clean

hello diane,

i would think that unless your model says it is self cleaning then yes it is normal to have to clean the filters on a dish washer. the amount of time between cleans would depend on how dirty your dishes are.

Whirlpool Gold dishwasher not cleaning dishes. It runs through the cycles and rinses, but dishes are not completely clean.

I had a similar problem with my last two dishwashers, with food still left on the dishes at the end of the cycle. What a nightmare. The most recent dishwasher is new, now the problem is solved. Here's what the manufacturer told me. Pour white vinegar (approximately 2 cups) into the dishwasher and run through the cycle. Buy some Cascade Complete and only use this type of soap for the dishwasher. Make sure you run a cup or two of the white vinegar through the dishwasher cycle once a week. My dishes are now clean and clear!!

My dishwasher still has soap in the dispenser

are you sure its soap? do you have hard water? that could be leaving spots on your dishes and also not allowing the soap to properly mix with the water. there is a product out that actually filters and softens the water going into your dishwasher. it works great and is way cheaper than a new dishwasher. i would give it a try. i love mine. you can get it at www.dishwasherfilter.com

587 Doesn't work well

AS ABOVE SUGESTION ...PROBUBLY NOT GETTING ENOUGH WATER. NOT LIKELY THE FAULT OF THE DISHWASHER PROBUBLY SEDIMENT FROM THE WATER PLUGED THE INLET SCREEN OF THE FILL VALVE. MANY TIMES THE MOVING OF A FLEXIBLE PLUMBING LINE BRAKES LOOSE ANY SEDIMENT AND DEPOSIT DURING THE INSTALATION OF A NEW DISHWASHER WHICH IS WHY MOST ADVISE REPACING THIS SMALL FLEXIBLE LINE WHEN INSTALLING A NEW DISHWASHER. YOU WILL HAVE TO DIS ASSEMBLE VALVE TO CLEAN SCREEN ...IF YOU BOUGHT THE PROTECTION AGREEMENT OR HAD SEARS INSTALL IT THEY SHOULD COVER A SERVICE CALL TO CLEAN THE VALVE.
