Right click on the game, click properties, click on compatibility, put a check mark in the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and choose the OS it did work in. Try some of the other options too.

Why does my computer keep saying "(insert program name here).exe has encourtered a program and needed to close, we are sorry for any inconvenience" it's been doing that with a few games, including...

I suspect that one or more of the game programs you have loaded have not been tested for compatibility with Windows XP and may have corrupted the hard drive.

Run chkdsk /f (/f is for "fix") and XP will check and try to fix your hard drive the next time you start windows.

If the error messages persist, you will have to use add-remove peograms ro remove all your games and then (after running chkdsk /f again) see if the error messages stop.

If they do not, you are faced with a reload of XP and then only load programs that have been certified by MIcrosoft to run under XP.

Start your computer in safe mode (press F8 before you get the Windows splash screen). I usually suggest pressing F8 continuously as soon as you see anything on the screen.
Once you get the white menu up that allows you to enter safe mode, let the computer boot into safe mode and do a system restore back to when you know the system worked.
That should solve the problem.

I have a gateway 835gm and when i turn it on. It wont go pass the windows xp screen. it just keeps re-booting.

If you have a windows boot cd, use it to get to the first boot screen where it asks you if you want to repair it or install XP. Try repair first and run check disk. If this doesnt work, then instead of pushing repair, press ENTER and do a reinstallation repair.

If you dont have a windows boot cd then you can download this ISO and burn it to a CD. It will boot and allow you to have a lot of diagnostic programs.

Go to this site and make a bootable cd. Once you have made it, go to the diagnostic category for hard drives. Run check disk first, then run the other ones if necessary. If it is a problem with the fileing system, then one of these tools will probably fix it.

Cannot install CARD GAMES for Windows

It's probably an issue with Vista, right click on the icon, go to properties, run as administrator, and run in compatability mode for XP. If this doesn't fix the problem, try contacting the software manufacturer.

I have the same game and am running Vista. Right click on the shortcut, select properties, go to the compatibility tab, and check the box next to Windows XP (service pack 2). This worked for me.
