Check if the issue is with the TV by connecting any other device.
If the issue is with the TV, then try resetting the TV to the factory settings by performing the below steps:
To reset the TV, turn ON the TV, then while holding down the UP ARROW button on the Remote Control, press the Power button on the TV front panel.
The TV will turn OFF and then turn ON again. Then release the UP ARROW button to complete the reset procedure.

If the issue still persists, try Power resetting the TV.
To Reset the TV, please disconnect the power cord for a short period of time (approximately 1 minute). Then, reconnect the power cord and power on the TV.
If the issue still persists, service is required for the TV.

I have a Vizio 42"

Since you have multiple problems, I would inspect the power supply module first.
It can be power problem, main control board problem, etc, it needs in-depth troubleshooting.

Toshiba 50HP66 Plasma TV Problem - TV comes on but no picture. OSD shows up as vertical stripes on black background. picture sometimes black, sometimes multi-colored verticle stripes. Should I change the...

Generally this problem is in your signal board. You may also know it as the scaler board, as you mentioned. I have not repaired this particular model. But I would first suspect the the signal board (scaler). If you are not sure what this is, it is the board with all the RCA Jacks and RF connections. The problem in this area are bad or failing capacitors. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

No Picture on a Hitachi 42EDT41A

Then it is probably not cold solder joints. You wouldn't think that an lcd TV would need a high voltage transformer but it does. They are very small compared to CRT televisions but they power up the screen. Without it you have no backround light to veiw what is there. There are two neon lamps on either side of the screen but they rarley go bad. My guess is the transformer ot the power supply feeding it.

Verticle lines

You should connect your TV to an Active DtH Connection or a Live TV Cable or even to a working DVD/VCD Player etc. and tune it to the frequency of the same and it should start working. If it doesn't, please contact Service Center.
