No audio

-   It's been a regular, sporadic problem with my player. For the most part, it works fine, but every now and then I'll pop in a DVD and video, but no audio, will play. Turning it off and then back on usually fixes the problem, but doing this after the most recent occurrence didn't work on the first try.

I've got a bit of experience working with electronics, but not enough to diagnose a problem like this. What I suspect is that there is either a short and/or a loose component in the audio circuitry. Component quality may also be an issue. I own an expensive DVD player that was made by a company known for their quality and it has been reliable and consistent for the past 8 years. I have also owned additional, cheaper players that crapped out within a month of purchase. This one is in between those two extremes, as this has worked well for me more than 3 years before this problem came up.
