Me and my housemates have a bunch of movies on a portable HDD that was working perfectly until yesterday when it began throwing this error (69-8007045D) at us when playing files it had played a dozen times before. We have not updated any softyware on either the xbox 360 or HDD. How the hell oes this happen? Is it PS3 time? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I just started having the same problem and i solved it in less than 3 minutes. If your hard drive is on any sort of USB extender it will not work. You to have a USB cord straight from the Xbox to the hard drive. The reason for this is that the video signal is not powerful enough to be interpreted by the Xbox

SOURCE: How to make it play the movie

Sometimes during file transfers, data can become corrupted. First, you may want to see if other videos play. This error code is a generic code stating it could not play your movie.

Try these for quick, possible solutions:

Simply reboot your XBox 360. It may sound stupid, but some people have had to have their 360 re-initialize so it could load the codec.

Go to you XBox dashboard.
Press the Right Bumper several times until you reach the "System" tab.
Select "Memory", "Hard Drive", "Videos", and select the movie you are attempting to watch.
Delete the movie.
Redownload the movie (it will remember you paid for it, so no worries).

A few other 360 owners have had similar issues. There is a problem with properly downloading the codec to play the file, even though Microsoft is the one providing the file.
If the problem doesn't resolve on it's own, contact Microsoft and get a refund. Your purchase will be deleted, but at least you get your points back.

Good luck!
