It is very likely that the drivers for your latest OS are different to those for your previous OS, and that the OS is not upgrading them automatically as is usual with Apple OSs.
I suggest you go here: Epson Perfection V33 Scanner
select the relevant Mac OS from the drop down menu - I think it should go direct but it may not - download and all the relevant drivers and software from the page. Install the drivers from the downloaded files and then the software.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
If you have upgraded your OS to Vista or W7 , this could be the cause of the issue , especially if your device is more than 10 years old . The manufacturers generally stop producing compatible drivers for these last operating systems . Otherwise , delete driver in Device Manager , disconnect scanner and uninstall scan software via Control Panel \ programs . Reboot , reinstall software . Reboot , wait for O.S. to be settled and connect scanner .
Go to this link. Select your OS (Windows only, there are no drivers available here for Mac OS), and download the standard driver (not the WIA driver) and the CanoScan Toolbox listed under Software. Follow the instructions to install on your computer.
Come on guys, havn't you herd of this amazing thing called "google", you use it to find things :)
any way go to http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=119&modelid=11463#DownloadDetailAct
or www.usa.canon.com and search up your scanner model and then click on driver tap, then OS then you can download the driver and free software from there.
