Hi garthe,

With the indulgence of Basti ....

To my understanding, error 51.1 indicates a failure in the laser/scanner commonly causing laser beam detection problem. This could be the laser it self, the DC servo controller or often just the reflector assembly. In most instances, the problem could be corrected by cleaning of the some internal parts. This error problem has been attended here at FixYa. Pls refer to this posting and solution.

Additionally, some have reported solving the problem by tightening the laser connectors.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Lets check the hardware first if its working as a stand alone

To test the printer in "standalone" mode, perform the following:

  1. Turn the printer off and unplug any parallel cable from the printer.
  2. Unplug the network cable (if applicable) from the HP Jetdirect card (if equipped) and then remove the card from the formatter.
  3. Power on the printer.
  4. After the printer reaches a Ready status, print the following test pages:

  • Configuration page or Self Test page (list of installed options)
  • Event Log (list of most recent printer events to aid with troubleshooting)
  • Menu Map (lists Printer settings)

By the way how do you connect printer to network? what type of cable are you using, and where are you getting the error message? on the control panel of printer or on computer?

Hp 4250 error code 55.4

error code 55.4 on HP Laserjet 4250:-The dc controller is not communicating with
the formatter. The problem could be caused
by a timing error or an intermittent
connection
Repair:-
switch off the unit - disconnect power cord
unsrew the two screws holding the formatter in place
( silver plate to rear right)
remove the plastic side panel by sliding
remove the formatter ( silver box you just unscrewed) by sliding toward the rear.
reinstall the Formatter
and re-test
more often than not just reconnecting the controller is enough to clear the problem. theres a good chance it has moved out of position as time has gone by.

How to clear error code 49.4c18 on HP laserjet 4250

any 49.xxxx codes are related to firmware crash.
the probable cause is a corrupt file in the print queue. remove the printer from the network then after network is disconnected - cycle the power on the machine ( switch off then wait 10 seconds switch back on)
the 49 error will probably clear . if so Clear All print jobs in Print queue on the computerr workstation. then reconnect printer and away you go!
if however the error remains then you will need to Upgrade the firmware or replace the firmare chip/formatter ( unlikely I've only ever replaced one out of thousands of calls for this fault)

Error 50.1 hp 4250 printer

This is a fuser error, it could be a faulty thermal sensor on the fuser but can also be caused by a faulty power supply.
This model commonly has dry joints in the power supply which can be fixed depending on your level of skill.

Error code 59.40 on laser jet 4250

Do you mean an HP 4250. If memory serves me right that error number refers to the main drive or cartridge drive. You may have broken the gear on the cartridge while installing it. Especially if your the type to slam it in there. It can happen with genuine and remans so don't go bemoaning reman cartridges...lol. Turn it off...put another cartridge in there...and see if if boots up. I work on printers for a living and had( I'm 95% sure ) that same error code a couple of weeks ago and fixed it for the customer over the phone this same way.
