Question about Kenmore 54501 Dehumidifier
I've had this humidifier for a few years. Has always run well but towards the end of last year it ran extremely loud all of a sudden. From doing some reading it seemed this was due to the fan malfunctioning. I was able to remove the back of the unit and took a look at how it was running without the back cover. The fan is in fact not working properly. It does move, but after going around one orbit it seems to catch, stop for a few seconds, go around for another orbit, but never starts operating fully. I've already taken enough of it apart where I don't want to proceed without some clue of what I'm doing. So can anybody tell me if the unit is completely shot, and if not is there anything I can do that would be an easy fix? Thanks.
Just replace the fan motor is the proper fix. you may dissasemble the fan motor and it may run for a while but the cost of a compressor is not worth the cost of the fan motor
