Sounds like you'll need to reinstall the operating system, from the recovery cd...or use F8 for safe mode, and see if it's a virus issue

Dear sir I have laptop..hp 2530p. 12" inch

You can choose any brand of replacement disk (Western Digital, Hitachi, Seagate, or Toshiba), provided it conforms to these specifications :
- form factor : 2''5
- interface : SATA
- size : at least 120 Gb, if your disc was nearly full, or less, depending on your storage needs.
Any computer shop can provide you with that kind of spare part.
They can also install the OS on the disk, with the drivers for your specific HP model.

Smart failure predicted on my hard disk

Hopefully the warning was overly cautious, and you are still interested in an answer.

When SMART warns of failure, it is time to stop trusting that drive and get a new one. Even though you might be owed another under warrantee, it is a Good Idea™ to have a spare. You need to get as much as you can off of the failing drive and transfer it. A disk cloning utility like Norton Ghost or Partition Magic will give you a perfect copy of what you currently have, but many people prefer to back up only the documents and settings and then install the system and application software fresh.

I have the aspire 3680 but it hasa mk8034gsx-si hard disk that has gone bad what do i do?

You may need to re-place the hard disk if it gone bad, the picture shows it procedure of replacement.

The hard drive can be easily accessed from the bottom of the laptop. Simply remove the hard drive door, remove four screws securing the hard drive caddy, disconnect the hard drive from the connector on the motherboard and remove it from the laptop.
After that remove all screws securing the hard drive to the caddy and transfer the caddy to the new hard drive.
Hope this helps, if so rate the solution

Smart failure predicted on my hard disk said it could be from a recent added item what do i do?

Hi there,
Unfortunately this means that the drive is about to fail. Fail means it will eventually stop working and be inaccessible. So you need to back up any important data from the drive now. Get whatever you have on the drive to a back up location (ie another drive/image/burn to dvd/etc).
Its my first post, so I'll explain a bit more. SMART is Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology. So Ill put this in easy good terms, Smart is predicting a hard disk is going to go bad (stop working completely, and eventually fail), SMART knows this because it will take stats from how the hard drive is at various times over the years you have it.
Over time such as spin up time, read errors, power on cycles, etc. to determine how much wear and tear the drive has on it and assigns each a value. It then compares your drive's values to a database of failure rates to predict when it will wear out. So it doesn't actually test the drive in the true sense of the word. Based on that, the error message implies that there isn't necessarily anything wrong with your drive at this moment but statistics show most drives in this condition fail soon-replace it.
(Hey at least now you know all this)
Many times people do not get the opportunity to receive a SMART warning, as catastrophic spontaneous failures occur. If you are getting SMART warnings you should definitely take heed of them, as you are fortunate enough to have some time before catastrophic failure to back up data. (Whatevers important, like docs, resumes, pictures.)
Also thats a LAPTOP hard drive, so from experience, back that up right away. Those small hard drives (2.5") are prone to dying in the half the lifespan as the normal hard drives. You also may find that some data may not be accessible, so if you know some moderate skills. Use HDD regenerator. May save you.

Drive is not switched on

check the input power switch on the rear of the unit...
It should be on 240V. Turn off the computer, then move the switch back and forth a couple of times... set to 240V. this assures the coorect input power to the external drive.

Secondly, move the USB port to another USB port on your computer. If it works fine, then it is a bad USB port.

Third, check the device driver in device manager on your software. try updating the driver... This solves a potential driver issue.

Good Luck,
