The 30 GB iPod's had a Hitachi HD, which seems to have hit and miss problems. The 60 GB's were Toshiba HD, which were much more reliable. The iPod touch went flash based, which is the most reliable so far. If it has warranty, let apple worry about it, then do what ever you want once it's fixed.

I've removed the cable from iPod to soon from a sync .... now ipod has frozen and nothing is working on iTunes at all

You need to Perform a Hard Reset on iPod Classic..To perform an iPod hard reset , start by toggling the hold switch from off to hold, then back off again. Press and hold down the Center button (middle of click wheel) and the Menu button. Continue to hold these buttons down until you see the Apple logo on the iPod screen (approximately 6-8 seconds).
If the hard reset doesn't work the first time, try it again a couple more times. Sometimes it works the second or third time around.
If the iPod hard reset is still not working, try connecting your iPod to a power source, or computer, and then doing the hard reset.
*For older iPod models, you may need to hold down the Play/Pause button and menu button, rather than the Center button and Menu button...Take care..

Ipod crashed, sad ipod face, do i have to get a new ipod? i already went to apple support. doesn't work. ??

There are a few last things you can do. Try entering diagnostic mode by holding the center and left buttons together on bootup. You can also try to see if itunes will recognize it when connected. If so, try to do a restore.

My Ipod froze

You can usually reset a frozen iPod by holding down the menu and center buttons for about 10 seconds. Hope this helps!

Its frozen and the buttoms are not working

Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.) Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step. Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.

If you are still unable to reset your iPod, use only one finger from one hand to press the Center (Select) button, and one finger from the other hand to press the Menu button.
When you reset iPod all your music and files are saved, but some customized settings may be lost. Date and time are preserved (unless the iPod reset itself because it had no power and then was reconnected to power). Other customized settings, such as Bookmarks, On-The-Go Playlists, Shuffle, Backlight timer, and so forth are preserved from the last time the hard drive turned on.

If for any reason this does not resolve your issue please do let me know :) and remember to rate

My 8GB ipod nano froze stuck in the middle of a song. It isn't being recognized by my computer, won't charge, reset, or turn off. HELP!!!!!

Try a hard reset:
Press and hold the Center button, and the Menu button for ten seconds.
This should force a reset, and show you the Apple logo for a few seconds, while it reboots.

Please help my IPOD! It froze on the same screen w/ the light on

Slide the hold/lock switch on and off and then hold down the "Menu" button and the center button for about 5 seconds. If this doesnt restart your iPod, try the same procedure, but instead, hold down the "Menu" button and the "Play/Pause" button for 5 seconds. This should reset your iPod.

Hope it works!
