I have a kawasaki kx60 2 stroke it wants to fire but not run what could be the reason why

    I have the same problem, bike started fine and idled ok then is started to boggs out and backfire on any kind of throttle advancement. The bike had spark yesterday but now it has no spark it wont even fire. I checked the magneto and all alignment marks are good changed the plug, flushed the tank and still no luck. I checked all the wires for frayes, Chaffs and breaks all looks good. HELP!!

Carb settings incorrect? Check / replace spark plug - do plug test to check for good spark. Fuel tap broken or not opening properly? Check flow of fuel to carb. Maybe blocked tubing.

WHAT IS THE SPARK PLUG ORDER FOR A KAWASAKI NINJA 900 1985


Left coil feeds 1 and 4...right coil feeds 2 and 3...as long as you stick to this it doesn't matter which lead goes to which plug. Left coil will have one short lead and one long...short =1...long = 4. Right coil leads will be about even in length...doesn't matter which goes to 2 or 3.
It's a wasted spark system so plugs 1 and 4 fire together...2 and 3 fire together...only 1 cylinder in each pair will be compressed and ready to fire when the spark happens, the other will be empty and coming on to it's inlet stroke...

Timing..I.E. late firing


Hi, Spiderman699 for backfiring the usual suspects are:
1. Severely discharged or a damaged battery, should have 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a "LOAD" test "WARNING" you can have 12.5 volts or better but little or zero amps and the battery must be replaced.
2. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
3. Faulty main circuit breaker and or connections.
4. Faulty ignition coil and or connections.
5. Faulty spark plug, oil or gas fouled, wrong heat range or service type, wrong gap, loose in the cylinder head, broken electrode or insulator.
6. Faulty spark plug cables, leaking or broken, internal damage check for spark leakage in the dark.
7. Faulty ignition module, switch, CKP, MAP, CMP, sensor and or any connector in the ignition circuit could have corroded, loose, or broken pins/sockets
8. Burnt exhaust valve or air leak in the exhaust system.

I have fire to the spark plug and gas to the engine but will not krank just back fires


I ASSUME IT IS A FOUR STROKE AND IF SO YOU NEED TO CHECK THE TIMING AND THE VALVE CLEARENCE,IF IT IS A 2 STROKE I WOULD LOOK TOWARDS THE REEDS IN FRONT OF THE CARB,CHECK FOR CRACKS OR GAPS,ALSO MAKE SURE IF YOU CLEAN YOU CARB THAT YOU CAN SEE DAYLIGHT THRU YOUR PILOT JETS.JUST BECAUSE YOU SPRAY SOMETHING IN THERE DOESNT MEAN ITS UNGLOGGED GET PROOF

You will need a new coil it sounds like someone has mcgivered a coil from a single cylnder. they wont fire together, when one is on the comp stroke the other is on the exaust stroke, but the ignitions often fire a spark on compression annd exhaust strokes ie each time the crank rotates, so they have used this to get it running

hi,most two strokes in the mx range run about 40-1,but me being me i always prefer to run my 2 strokes a little bit oily around 33 or 35 -1,2 stroke oil is very cheap compared to scored barrels or seized big ends...cheers

From the dynamo the current generated to induction coil armed with the appropriate capacitor, for relaying the current it via the distributor,(for timing of spark) high voltage/current, and distributed to each plug/Cylinder & called CDI ( Capacitor Discharge Ignition)..........seems the most practical solution I could come up with .

I have a kawasaki kx 250 2 stroke an it was running good now it wont start. it has spark it wants to fire up but it just backfires.

nice bike you have there.

have you checked on the carb ans see if the jet is right and the mixture is normal, this is usually the case if the carb is not tuned right.

better of reset the card, open it clean it, then set to default even if you are using your mixture of gas and 2t. just set to factory default. once it starts give it a few run, 1-2 hours, then set it to how you want your mixture to be.

That is so dependant upon "Many Variables!!--If you were shaped like a bullet`weighed no more than 90Lbs & were laying under the paint, with quality high octane rated fuel, without brakes binding , & no accessories like Panniers & the Engine had at least 16,000K'ms Legit on the clock ,& at sea level ( Not High Altitude & on a "moist day" without Pillion Passenger ,& with Engine having Air Cleaners near new,& providing each Cylinder registered similar Compression Pressure , Perhaps 15 Psi & The Engine had correct Viscosity oil , & Drive train was not "MALADJUSTED " this macine , with small tailwind could be expected to top the Ton!---Now, IF YOU REALLY wanted to know just how good KAWASAKI'S earlier prducts were . locate >1974 S3 --2Cycle Triple Fire Breather & Could out accellerate & out run HONDA K1 750/4 --Reason>?"Power To Weight Ratio"--I hope that has been useful!--Whilst I 'm on that aspect, the Triple sounded to be screaming ( As if Ultra High RPM, Not so, it being Clarke cycle ( 2 Stroke , has "power pulse each time piston climbs to Top Dead Centre & the Four Strokes , Rev so much harder, yet do not quite sound so !!---The Mighty Vincent V Twin was an exception though >Guaranteed each Macine would reach 120 MPH 998 CC British, with very short pushrods, & alongside one at The Ton, years pasyt I noted His Tacho was only showing 4,200RPM!--O K -Cheers, Stay Upright", Des
