Question about Computers & Internet
WMDC synched fine with my PDA running on Windows Mobile 6.0 until about Feb this year. All I get is this red cross on the WMDC with "error." No other message. Message on my PDA Activesynch says, "Port not available......close any programs that use the port, restart the device and try again."
I've been looking for a solution since Feb, so I've tried just about everything suggested in forums - uninstalled, reinstalled WMDC, reset my PDA, disabled McAfee, even reset my laptop to factory settings (lost all data). Nothing helped.
I don't care about synching with Outlook but this is so frustrating because I cannot even transfer or backup my PDA files.
On your PDA to PC sync concern;
Are you using Vista? If yes have you tried updating your USB port drivers (not from Microsoft) but from the laptop manufacturer or if a desktop, the motherboard manufacturer?
Additionally, there may be firewall and/or proxy issues. You might find this and this interesting.
I you are running XP, pls verify that likewise your USB port drivers are updated from the PC/motherboard manufacturer.
Pls post back for any developments or even the lack of it.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back as requested, how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Thank you for using FixYa.
