Test does not detect hard drive boot up problems

Either your hard drive is bad or the controller circuit that controls it. So you have 1 option, replace the hard drive and run the test again. Depending on the size of your drive it may run you $50 to $ 150 bucks. If it's the drive controller circuit, you may need a new system board. Might be cheaper to buy a new computer.

My parents Dell Latitude D610 is returning the Internal HDD Hard Error. When I press F2 for the setup utility as it suggests, there is no option to enter safe mode. What should I do?

DELL Laptops usually have a bulit in self test.
You can enter it either by pressing F10 key at boot time and then go down to "Boot to utility partition" or "Hardware test".
If there is no such menu, you can still find your "Drivers and Utilites" disc. Put it in your optical drive and boot from it. You will be asked for starting tests by pressin Keys "1" or "2" or so. Once you booted into the main menu choose "Test System" and finally "Run tests". Optionally, you could specify the hardware part that you want to diag, but harddrives take most of the time, all other components are tested within a few seconds. Thus you can take the full diag as well.

Turn the start light on but wont start up

This is a normal problem with notebooks, not to worry can be easily resolved.

Follow the undermentioned steps and check it works or not!!

1>Turn the system completely off
2>Disconnect the power adapter and the battery from the system
3>Disconnect any other pheripheral which is connected for example :Printer, scanner, flashdrive, etc
4>Press and hold the power key for 1 minute without any power source being connected to the system.
5>Now connect everything back
6>Try powering the system on.

If it works GREAT.....If not then follow the undermentioned steps
1>shut the system down
2>this time when we restart keep on tappping the F10 key for sometime which would take you to the PHOENIX BIOS SET UP
3>As soon as you reach that screen it might give you an option to click on YES or NO.
4>Yes would be higlighted click on ENTER
5>If you don't get any options like yes or no....not to worry
6>Press the F9 key once which would ask you whether you want to set the BIOS to the default settings or not, which would give you a YES or NO option
7>Yes would be highlighted click on YES
8>Now press F10 once again and then Hit enter on YES option
9>The system would reboot by itself
10>Hope it works this time

IF then also the issue persists

1>Boot the system press F10 to got to the BIOS SET UP
2>If it gives you a YES or NO option ,select YEs and then hit enter
3>look at the top of the screen you would get a DIAGNOSTICS or ADVANCED TAB
4>Selecrt that tab using the ARROW KEYS on the keyboard and then hit enter
5>Under that option it would give you an option to run a PRIMARY HDD SELF TEST
6>Run the test and in case you get any errors like #1-07 FAILED or #1-08FAILED or any other errors ask HP tp replace the hard drive of the system
7>In case th HDD test passes completely which normally takes around 120 minutes to complete doesn't give you any errors then you have to reinstall the operating system

Check this steps case none of the steps work then get back on fixya would let you know how to reinstall the operating system

Hello Guys 1010us pavilion dv5 model when I play games it shuts down. So yesterday while watching Youtube it shutted down again. And blue screen is appearing and it shows that there is a problem with hdd...

Well if you got an error related to the hard drive then its better to check the hard drive whether is faulty or not..

1.Shut the system down.
2.Restart the system and tap on the F10 key for while till we dont get to the set up utility.
3.As soon as we get to the BIOS screen try locating an optionw which reads as DIAGNOSTICS, it would be the third option at the top,
4.Select that option using the arrow keys on the keyboard and hit enter.
5.It would show us an option which reads as Primary Hard drice self test..
6.Hit enter again to start the test.
7.There are 2 types of tests.
8.As soon as we start the test it would start the SHORT TEST first which would take a couple of minutes.
9.If it comes with any errors then call hp and ask them to replace the hard drive.
10.If the short test passes and the comprehensive test starts then let that test run completely which might take an hour as well..
11.If this test goes fine then the hard drive is fine and you are facing trouble because of the graphices card installed on the system.
12. I am providing you a couple of drivers which you can try installing depending on the operating system installed on the system.but you need to first check the hard drive and then perform these steps..

I believe the system was shipped with a 64 Bit Vista which NVIDIA graphics card.

I am providing you the drivers for that

You can also try to update the BIOS which would the next step if the above steps does not help..

Hope this works

PXE errors are generated by the network boot ROM. In other words, the boot process is attempting a network boot (your BIOS' 4th boot option), which means that your system was unable to boot from a HDD, CD-ROM, or USB device (the first 3 boot options).
