Question about Sony KP-51WS520 51" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Sony projection blinks 9 times

The tv clicks but the picture doesn't light up.. then the code blinks 9 times. About 5 months ago I changed out the D6116 and D6114 diodes and it started working again until now. I pulled the G board and the diodes seem to check ok with the Fluke diode tester, about .5 volts. I do get some odd readings on the D6109 diode. Please advise. Thanks

At first when it wouldn't come on. No sound, no picture. Then I kept trying turning it on and off. A couple of times no picture and then sound for a minute then nothing. The next day I tried again and everything worked normally. We just didn't turn it off for a few days but when we did, back to nothing again no picture, no sound just blinking code. Tried turning it on several times over the next couple days but nothing. I guess it could be the same diodes I changed out before failing again. Should I go to a 1/2 watt diodes if I can find them.

Actually I am an electrician working for the power company. I think the voltage stays a pretty steady 123 VAC. But it's always possible we are getting some spikes.

I replaced the two diodes on the A board. Still when I hit the power button their is a click but no picture or sound, then 10 red blinks, then it eventually will turn itself off.

I would bet the IC went bad out of the components above, have you check all of them because the error no doubt is coming because one or more of them went bad and may not just be an audio error then.

10 blinks means "HV Protection" and the probable cause locations listed are as follows:

    1. Q8014 or Q8013 have shorted, replace along with R8051 on D board.
    2. IC8005 is damaged (D board).

These are starting points for qualified service technicians.

Sounds like they are blown again. You have bad power there, by chance?

Eight blinks - Problem with the audio (AUDIO), unit goes to standby and blinks the self-diagnosis code. Check IC406 audio amp, PS401, and 402. On some projection models of Sony TV sets, this code means that T8005 (flyback transformer), or the associative components in the high voltage circuits are defective on the D board.

Red stand by light blinks 8 or 9 times and no picture or sound

Or Panel Module Error or Thermal Error. If it is intermittent 9 blinks, meaning sometimes the TV comes on and other times you get flashing, then change the switching regulator on the "G" board or check connections. Make sure the regulator is -12 or -13 (negitive).

5 times blinks is error code for No Good White Balance and you said that picture is very green.
As you know TV is approx 7 years old so it needs RGB gain adjustments.
If you are TV tech person or know about TV repair, let me know to guide you further. Or contact local TV repair shop to fix it.

Sony LCD television will not power on.

I get 5 blinking red lights for about a minute or so before it powers back down. The Sony TV has a specific light that i presume is supposed to light up when the bulb is out. I'm unsure if this is what it is.
no picture, no sound. tries to boot with green light blinking a few times. then goes to red blinking light, six in all, then waits a few moments, then another 6 blinking red light.
Bulb was already replaced several months ago but we do have the TV on for long periods of time.
